Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The I love the 80's Cycling Video Extravaganza

I uploaded many new videos, hours of entertainment for all to enjoy.. Most of the coverage is from the 80's with a few early 90's videos thrown in for good measure. Lots of 1987 and 1988 TDF coverage as well as Andy Hampstens 1987 Tour of Switzerland win. Drop me an email or PM if you are interested in the full lengths versions for those winter training days..

Cool beans! It's fun to see the 7-11 team on the Serotta - Huffy's, classic!

Also the clips of the 1986 Worlds in Colorado Springs, I was in the crowd in the final 100m, cheering like a fool!

I have some 80's Coors Classics clips I'll work on uploading.

Thanks Socalrider!!

Weird to see Lemond leading the pack to chase down his teamate Hinault, then dropping him when Hinault said go for it. You don't see that much these days, unless of course you ride for T Mobile

Thank you. Some of those I had never seen, only read about in the magazines after the fact. It almost like finding a lost video of your childhood.

Many of the TdF clips were fun, and without Bob Roll adding the color commentary, but he is in some of the races during that time "go get me a sandwich and water bottle Bob!" . Thanks again, nice way to spend a rainy afternoon.

My favorite Roll moment is during the Tour of Switzerland coverage. He is sitting at the table during the team meeting sipping his coffee, but looks like he just came from a Hells Angels rally.

dammit.

a mate had it on VHS in Flemish about 10 years ago, crap quality....obviously a dub of a dub.

The most exciting part was when the commentators went ballistic as Bauer bridged with 1000m to go...real goose bump stuff.

I still think that Bauer beats CC heads up in a sprint anyday. I thought his DQ was one of many close calls for Bauer..

Bauer was jipped! He wasn't going to lose that race. Fondriest made a nice career after that though.

You want to see a thing of beauty? Watch any race Fondriest did in '93. His pedaling action was like a hot knife through butter. His style oozed class, but the EPO jig can only last so long before you gotta' think about your life span. Just ask Bugno. He went a few years too long...
