Wonder challenges the Fastass Sumbichi riders to a race, and pedals the moped so fast the Fastass Sumbichi riders think their motorcycles have stopped and get off to see what is wrong....
Same premise (with very minor changes) used in the Freak Brother's episode from which I lifted the pane. Wonder which was first?

The Hog was around before the Freak Brothers... early Wonder Warthogs were printed in Hot Rod Magazine and (IIRC) Harvey (Mad) Kurtzman's Help. The story you lifted from is prior to the eighties, though-- later on Shelton had an assistant helping him out on a lot of the artwork (Paul Mavarides, of Mavarides v California fame) and the look was pretty distinctive. I'd bet the Hog story was first, but can't be assured of it.

On other fronts, I was slow getting started at work today, so I sat and doodled for an hour, and I think this thread made me draw some more bike/zombie stuff. Little crude (fast sketch) and inked largely with pen, not my usual working method.

Maybe I'll come back to this idea, I dunno. Gotta finish a book up first. It'd be nice to have a (gulp) third project to work on when I get jammed on the other two.

The "literal version" where somebody describes what's happening in the clip to the tune of the song on YouTube is pretty awesome too.

Don't worry.

I'm sure Dante put that a level or three down from purgatory.

Speaking of Mad magazine...I once directed a 5K and thought a unique T-shirt design would help.
One phone call led to another, and here we are....The first year was of "normal" colors, this is the 2nd year.
For the next year, he added a runner on the L as you look at the front, and I did that in "normal" colors.
The 4th year, I did the "added runner" design in these flourescents, and ended that design.
They are now fairly coveted by the running community in the area.

That Jack Davis-- fast and fluid. Time Magazine loved him because he could do a cover in a couple of hours. Tremendous artist; best stuff is in the old Two Fisted Tales/Frontline Combat stuff from EC in the fifties IMO.
