Beautiful!!!
I’m another person thanking you for restoring this bike and staying true to its’ heritage. So many folks want to decal their frames as another bike brand. The time spent identifying the bike is admirable and your work paint work excellent. Love it. Orange + black really pops.

OK, so here’s a little preview of what’s to come. My bike originally came with a Zeus Criterium RD. I had the option of either selling it, using it on another project, or keeping it on this project. I decided to clean it up and keep it on the Vicini, along with most other original parts that came with the bike. I was able to locate a Zeus vintage crankset to accompany the RD, so now I have two Zeus components for this project. I think it will complement all the original Campy parts very well. Here are the Zeus parts I will be installing shortly. Can’t wait!!

Wildwood, I see that you have a 1972 Zeus Competition. Do you have all Zeus components on your bike? How do you like your Zeus?

Hi everyone,
OK, so I know it's been a while since I've updated my build. Life happens, work happens, you know. So now I do have an update: I have started the rebuild process, and it's going good overall. I ran into a slight problem with the bottom bracket. I meant to use a newer style Campagnolo sealed BB that I had as a spare. Turns out I might have to go to a cup & cone BB. No problem, I just have to see what I have on hand, or order a new or used (vintage) cup & cone BB. Below are some pics of the build. Enjoy!

I had a newer style Ofmega headset, so I went with this one instead of the original rusted one. I like how it turned out. Also installed the original Super 68 brakes and Campagnolo shifters.

As an homage to the original paint scheme, I outlined the head lugs in white. I did the same thing to the drop outs. Not the straightest lining job, but it will do.

I did more work on the build recently. It's almost complete! However, now I have an issue with the seatpost - it does not want to get along with the seat tube. I'm going to have to sand the seatpost just a bit in order to make it work. Not a huge issue, but an issue nonetheless. Gotta love these vintage builds! Pics coming shortly. It's looking pretty good!

OK, here is a little teaser. I couldn't help myself. I should be done with the build in the next couple of weeks. Detailed pics and write-up to follow as soon as it is done.

Sorry for the low-quality pic. It is a zoom in from a larger photo. The detailed pics will be higher-quality.

Thanks so much for sharing these updates as the project moves forward.
Enjoying following along with the fine work.
Looks like she is just about ready for that first shakedown ride...
---
today chanced upon some better images of the frame's seat stay plugs as separate pieces. they were reportedly distributed by Cinelli.

Hi BF Members!
I AM DONE!!! My Vicini build is done and I am super happy how it turned out!! I kept about 75% of the original parts on the bike. The rest were parts I had on hand, and some new items to complete the look (wheels, tires, bar tape, etc.). I will add more detailed pics over the weekend, but here are the before and after pics. What do y'all think?? I've ridden the maiden voyage, and it rides so very smooth. I am still tweaking the fit, but that will come with more lengthy rides. I can't wait for spring to take this baby out for a long journey. I welcome all your comments.

I located an original REG vintage bottle cage. Complements the build quite nicely. Original Campagnolo shifter levers.
Zeus Criterium RD. Original Caimi freewheel (de-rusted, disassembled and re-greased).
Here is a before pic of the Caimi freewheel.

Let me know what you guys think. This was my rodstoration vision from the start - a little classic/retro mixed with a little modern. I truly appreciate all you BF members who helped me identify my bike. I learned so much building this bike up, and now I am going to enjoy riding it as much as I can. I already have my next project lined up (already disassembled and ready for a frame up rebuild). I'll post a few more pics once I have had time to ride the Vicini for a while. Stay tuned!

Thanks so much for the update!
Find meself a-wonderin' just how ye plan to make that test ride senza pedali.
Occurs that perhaps they are on the aetheric plane so do not show in the photographs...
Perhaps they can only be operated by feets which be on the same plane...
---
saddle pillar looks to be a product of Tecno Tubo Torino
---
note on the Zeus Competition chainset -
while listed at Sutherland and other venues as 50.4mm BCD it is not. has a unique BCD of ~55.2mm. BCD for inner is 151mm - same as first generation Campag Record. Zeus offered c/w's down to 43T for it. nearly all the sets encountered by enthusiasts are take-offs from OEM and have the same c/w dentition of 45-52 as seen on your example. final year produced was 1971.
