Oh, see- even when multiple people are saying the same thing, one is confused. Yeah, I didnt consider that elongation because I was thinking the claim was that the plates became longer.

Pretty soon it won't matter except to C&V as everything will be electronic shifting and juice disc brakes.
Then we can argue about the best wire routing or something like that.

Is it that much of a problem for some of you that some of us prefer to use the proper terminology?

This makes sense. On a related note, does anyone know how to service my 6800 brifters?

Cables do not stretch.
Yes they do. Some more than others. It's not a lot, and on a brake cable it won't be too big a deal unless it's an el-cheapo cable. On a derailleur cable it can mean a poor shifting derailleur. Every new cable I have ever installed I pre-stretched, then tightened and adjusted the brake or derailleur. That was many years ago but I never had a bike come back in for adjustment that I worked on.

Using proper terminology, fine.
Being pedantic about it for no good reason, obnoxious.

That clear enough for you?

Also, you haven't exactly proven the cables don't stretch. You have admitted they get too long for some reason.

Umm, never mind...
