Random Move: Road cyclist pats me on butt.
Very strange. I know in sports a pat on the butt is common for doing a good job, or whatever. In this case, I wasn't competing, just exploring some routes.
He said, "How's it going, then I felt his hand tap me on the butt."
I said, "Good, thanks."
Then he rode off.
On a side note, the guy was in full full road gear, may of been pro? Not sure.
I see TDF riders pat eachother all the time, so maybe it's no big deal.

I would not like it.. Likely a sport jock thing. I hope. But, with my bike pack, I've seen our fittest members almost patted on their butt by strange women, passing slowly by while moving in slow traffic..Luckily , she missed the mark.... Along With the phrase, 'nice butt' by some cute looking female passengers ; my bike buddy did not seem too upset.
I have had club members push me up a steep incline by pushing on my lower back, just north of the butt. But, that is not the same thing..

Judging by your name and the fact that you called him a "road cyclist", I'm going to assume you were riding your mountain bike (Stumpjumper FSR?) on the road. (Sherlock Holmes FTW) I probably wouldn't think too much of it, despite the *****exual undertones and the fact that you believed it was significant enough to tell us all about it.
I swear we're not all like this, though.

Are you a girl or a boy? Guys hit each others asses all the time in sports. Get used to it. Its a compliment/greeting, like a pat on the shoulder.
If you're a woman and you got patted by a man, welcome to gender equality. Either that or you've just got a nice bum.

The tap on the hip normally is normally to let someone know that you're there, seems odd to be using it outside of a group ride / race and downright strange to do it after you've said hi.
I vote random weirdo.

you are both American and it was not a handshake or a fight.
therefore it must be sexual contact of some kind.
good thing you started a thread about it. That will solve all of the problems.

A couple questions. Are you a girl? Were you wearing a mini-skirt with a thong underneath at time of said incident? If the answers to both questions is yes, are you interested in joining our group for this weekend's ride?
(please note, I'm talking about an actual bike ride. Do not want to sound like a complete perv)

Was he a big guy??? He must have switched from football to cycling and is confusing the two.
Did he have gloves on? Very important IMHO.

I see a trend.
I swear we're not all like this, though.
