Yes Dave, thanks. That's my Moto Champion Team. More to the OP's point, however, unless you're wedded to the stock city bike option, I think any one of these suggestions, PX-10, Gitane TdF, Motobecane, LeJeune, etc, built up as a city cruiser would be the way to go. Very cool and much lighter than those big city bikes.

I have a jones for orange bikes also. I have one that I am bringing back to life, but it is not French. It is a sultry Swede! A 72 Crescent 92320 Pepita Special.

https://www.classicrendezvous.com/Swe...ecial_1970.htm

Now that is orange! (actually kind of a red-orange)

When I get the blue Lejuene finished (it should be by next week) I will start on the Crescent. I have gathered most of the parts, but still lack some of the drivetrain.

Yup, there is an Austrian version as well - though they are no longer produced.
It's the Steyr Waffenrad, and I ride the lady's version when I am in Vienna.

I have this weird affection for the Peugeot UO8... sold my last one to a friend who wanted to go do some light touring and if I came across the right one I'd build another one up.

Think I like the tinkering more than the riding sometimes.

OOO ,,,OOO. I used to lust after one of those back in the day. Guy up the street had one and I used to stop on my PX-10 just to look at it. I felt...somehow...under-dressed. So funky! So cool looking. Looking forward to seeing this Seypat.

That is one classy name. And a classy bike as well, I would imagine. Have you posted pics of it here Veloria? Would love to see it.

Speaking of Motobecanes and Crescents, We all know that the Crescents were reported to have some toe overlap problems. But evidently some other bikes out there had it as well. I was reading this old Bicycling Magazine Motobecane Le Champion test and noticed the complaining about toe overlap.

https://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=14171

There had got to be other brands and models with this problem, but the Crescents are the only ones you hear about.

***** I've never noticed that on my Moto Champion Team Seypat. I wonder if it was more common on the smaller size frames? Doubtful, eh, as the wheel bases should have been constant I would think. Haven't had that problem on my Gitane either.

orbeamike - That is some seriously beautiful workmanship.

Pretty as my old dame is the folks at Peugeot did not finish their bikes to this degree as bikes like my PLX were designed to be rather utilitarian. I had to properly face my head tube as they seem to have failed at that back in '57... would have caused some issues with the headset had the bike never been ridden before I acquired it.
