I doubt XTR costs any more to manufacture than XT or Deore. It's a few grams lighter, that's all.

It is an original part on my 2001 Cannondale Jekyll. It isn't what I would call broken, it is however not perfect between just those two gears. I will take it apart and hopefully find some gummed up old lube. But I've got a couple other projects that take priority. fwiw, I love my xtr and xt components.
