Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Not a fan of that color choice either if it was neon pink it might work for me, but that magenta is the nazzz.

Got this today. All I know is that it's a Shwinn. Going to head over to the vintage forum later.

thanks, i have no idea how they stack up against other steel frames but i like it so far. i want an njs frame someday or at least a higher quality steel frame of some sort. all the new ones have 1 1/8 head tubes and it kills the classic look for me. so itll prob be njs. plus i have a really short upper body and super long legs so the longer seattubes i see on the ones for sale would be nice. in the meantime, i'm just going to beat this thing into the ground. i love bikes that look like they've been ridden

My fixed gear, wet weather commuter. Lots of fun but a bit cramped. I need to get a longer, tall stem.

Thanks gents!

The paint on he frame is pretty bad, I kinda want to sand it down and polish it, is that even possible with this? I have no idea what I'm doing with this old of a frame. I'm pretty sure I need a shorter stem

It's steel so you could chemically strip the paint off but you're not going to get far polishing raw steel. If you want to make it somewhat shiny you could clear-coat it after it's been stripped.

Edit: Apparently, with about 50 hours of polishing, you can polish cromo steel. Some BMX guy did this w/ 50 hrs of polishing. Seeing as you're unemployed at the moment you could do this between interviews and applications...

Do you have any info on how that was done?
