Thanks for posting back about your trip. Sounds like it went well. Always seems to be headwinds in winter. Beautiful water though!

Couple of reasons. The Marco Island ferry is seasonal and started from Marco Island after my trip, and the ride from Naples is a safer route, particularly in the early morning hours. I started in Vanderbilt Beach, which is 10 miles north of downtown Naples, so the distance is about the same.

The wind has been blowing out of the east for weeks on end, so there no escaping it. Like riding uphill for two days and then back downhill.

I ended up riding last Monday through Friday from St. Augustine to Clearwater, and besides the one mile where we made a mistake and had to head north, we had headwinds! I know how it feels,...but like you I'm sure would rather be doing that than many other things.

As usual I'm a day late and a dollar short. I never biked in the Keys but have done a bit of diving around Marathon and Islomorada. For some reason I like to read Tim Dorsey when I go to Florida...

BTW, how are you liking the Lynskey?

The Lynskey is working out great. Wasn't sure how it would handle with the bikepacking set up, putting all the gear up high, but there is no noticeable difference, probably since there is less overall weight. Having an aero profile is definitely an improvement in windy conditions. I plan to do a three day trip from Connellsville to DC (GAP and C&O) this year with 700 x 40 tires, but otherwise the same rig.
