I've ridden a 2011 Escape 2 for four years while fluctuating around 300 lbs without any issue at all (including wheels.) It gets rode hard and usually 20-40 miles at a time. Best thing I done to is change the cables to Jagwire (night & day difference in shifting/braking) and install Marathon Plus tires. It is a good, solid riding machine for a larger person.

I finally got around to pulling the trigger on getting the Giant Escape City 2 Disc. I had the money for a few months but the weather was crap and then I had issues with getting transportation to the bike store. I'm weighing in at 235 now and still very slowly dropping. I hate the pedals though....my feet keep slipping on them. The seat is probably getting replaced as well. I have a few more items coming in the mail. I'm considering Shimano PD-MX80 pedals and an ISM Metro saddle but I'm open to any suggestions.
