Spun around for about 45 miles with a couple of cycling buddies today and took a pic at a familiar spot. The spring greening of the landscape is slowly happening in the Boston area. Note the color scheme homage to @darkmoon's Merckx!

Chrome Paramount Day
I haven’t taken the Paramount out since the fall. I forgot it was set-up with a half-step. That was a nice surprise. 32 miles heading up the peninsula.

Hope that knee comes around. I'm on 10+ on a partial, but still worry about it. Hang in there.

Just a short 20-mile loop into the Berkeley Hills, one of my regular routes. Near the top of Grizzly Peak Road there’s a short access road that leads to the top of another peak. I’ve passed by this small road many times and have been curious where it goes. Today, I ignored no trespassing signs and climbed a steep few hundred meters to find a cell tower and a beautiful view looking east towards Mount Diablo in the distance—just the one photo today:

...but all the other trees have followed their lead and color is returning to our streets and parks...
darkmoon very cool Lotus Europa, it looks in fantastic condition for it age, and is clearly loved by its owner. They are so small compared to most vehicles and amongst the lowest around, as sure you discovered that once sat in the car getting out is not so easy for us older folk.
Yeah, getting out of Europa isn't easy. Europa isn't the best car for ladies because...hahaha.

Took my winter project Pro Miyata down to the lake today. About 20 miles on it this afternoon. I'm surprised how nice a ride it is despite 23mm Clinchers. Seems very stable on faster descents as well. The gearing is still a bit steep going back uphill, but I've decided to stop messing with that. The Superbe Pro stuff shifts pretty nicely as is and the Suntour Symmetric shifters do a nice job of trimming the FD when the RD is shifted.

I was going to say that I think this is an excellent piece of photography. I am not sure how many art majors would agree.

Needed to test ride a beater so took it for a quick fishing ride. No fish but almost caught a picture of a jackrabbit that kamikazed' in front of me...center, near fence post.

Other than a couple of errands on the city bike I haven’t been out on 2 wheels in about a week and a half. Main reason being I developed a case of shingles (low back and inner thigh) which has sucked every bit of wind out of my sails. Doubly hard as this is prime riding weather now before the humidity sets in. I got on the bike for an easy ride around town today, still managing 1300 feet of climbing.
Most of you out there are, I’m sure, of a certain age, so I can’t recommend the shingles vax strongly enough. You want no part of this! My wife pestered me last fall to get it but blew it off while I got the Covid booster. She is right once again.
To my knowledge, the last gravel road of any length within Charlottesville city limits; the other one getting paved last year. Stribling Ave, about 1/2 mile of rocks.

Spaghetti Legs. Rebecca and I were among the first 100 to test the two shot method back in early 2000’s before it had mass release. A booster is needed after a few years. They watched us for months to be sure we had no ill effects.

I was not entirely successful at snaking my way between the raindrops on the Nagasawa but enjoyed a slightly damp 20 miles, visiting the Tomales Bay hamlets of Olema, Inverness Park, and Inverness, plus the big town of Point Reyes Station (population eight-hundred and something).

It was 32F when I woke up this morning and had reached a balmy 42 by the time I went out for a short spin on the Milwaukee single speed. I recently swapped in some Soma Highway 1 bars, purchased during one of their recent blow-out sales, and they felt great compared to the fairly narrow bars I had on the bike previously.

Very nice weather today about 60 with a light breeze. Took the Nishiki SS speed on a ride to the Library and town by the long way.
The river and small lakes are finally free of snow.About a week ago there were still people ice fishing.
The Library and book garage.

King William Alexander's birthday today. The weather started out meh, so we decided to stay in. But the sun appeared in the late afternoon, and we decided to grab a couple of bikes go out for a ride after all.
In Woerdense Verlaat mrs non-fixie had her bike checked. "Harmless", I believe the verdict was:
The sun was gone quickly, but the temperature was ok and there wasn't much wind. Pretty nice cycling weather, actually.
The road along the river Meije had recently received a new black top. Very smooth!
Rain stopped play for about fifteen minutes, and we stopped for shelter at Piet Potlood, the local water tower:
The cycle path across the Nieuwkoop lakes, from De Meije to the town of Nieuwkoop:
In Nieuwkoop we caught the remnants of today's King's Day party.

Taking the long way home from the home improvement store and an early dinner. All I hear is the breeze and the birds - and not the bottom bracket.

Despite what the sign says, I'm not sure you can see the road.
