My parents aren't quite that bad, for example she will change diapers. I kind lashed out at my mom slightly when she was visiting last weekend while Liz was out on her overnight trip. Of course, my mom was critical of the situation, and "would never have done such a thing" and loves to comment on how she never left me until I was 8.
Each time Lilly would fuss slightly, she would find something else to be critical about. Eventually I got fed up and I told her that I needed her to stop being so critical and start being more helpful, and that everyone else was more helpful, especially my in laws (SIL, MIL etc). She immediately started helping me.
Important to note, I have a great relationship with my parents and there was only a slight tinge of frustration in my tone, really not that mad about it. I don't expect much to change long term and I'm fine with that.

Since Tmonk seems to have mommy issues as does BAM, let's do a poll.
Do you have (check one):
Mommy issues ___________________
Daddy issues ____________________
Both Mommy and Daddy issues _____
Other __________________________

count me in for box one. my dad and I are buddies and will still share a joint and a beer and play some music. so we good.
also I take it that most participants in this thread don't have parents that are still alive, so this is mostly a young man's game

I never ended up on a stripper pole so I am pretty sure I don’t have daddy issues.

I've had issues with my dad, but I never ended up on a stripper pole. I guess I'm blessed for that.

Sooo many great moments and quotes from that Chris Farley skit! A true classic.
Lilly turned 6 months yesterday. She is strong enough now to sit up on her own and coordinated enough to grab whatever she wants... and it's always the bad stuff while I am holding her, like kitchen knives or my glass of wine with dinner. We'll be in big trouble once she's more mobile! Also, I am doing my part to make sure she doesn't have daddy issues haha. For example I try to tell her "great job" and "I'm so proud of you" fairly often... hopefully it sticks lol

Both Mommy and Daddy issues. Big time. Left home @ 17 but went back after a while for a few months. Left for good and only saw them once or twice per year after that. Dad passed in 1994 and my mother made it to 2009.

Second post in a row (there won't be eleven): just back from doc re. left knee. Diagnosis: mild to possible grade 1 strain of MCL; no lasting damage. Mild strain (not tear) of medial meniscus. No lasting damage. Recovery time (for an old man): another 3 to 5 weeks, all going well. Time to ride (easy gears only; no mashing etc.): in another 10 days of so if the knee feels up to it.

I had neither mommy nor daddy issues, they were great. A little more in the recreational coffers could have gotten me some Chuck Taylor Converse All Stars instead of skippys at the time, but other than that they were awesome.

Thanks. I got off lucky, I think. My doc does some sports medicine stuff, and is a cyclist. In his opinion the outcome might have been worse, given my age, were it not for the fact that years of riding have given me pretty good muscle support for my arthritic knee(s). Think I'll milk that opinion for all it's worth, to help persuade Mrs. Badger to let me do my crabon wheel/Di2 drivetrain 'final upgrade' this year!

Hmmm...I don't think I have either. My mom (still alive and doing great at 85yo!) and my dad (passed in '94) each have quirks in their character, and I'd say I'm much more like my dad, but both my parents were stable, supportive, and attentive. Their divorce when I was 18 was not hugely impactful on me.

Mommy and daddy both passed a long time ago. No lingering issues, but I do have today’s issue of the NYT.
