Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

As soon as you see the dog, hit the brakes, stop, get off the bicycle, position bike between you and the dog, talk to the dog. Worked for me the few times I've tried it.

Walk down the road a bit, /the dog should go back where it came from, unless, of course, you've made a friend.

Pepper GEL spray is great for windy days.

When the dog stops gnawing on your leg, because he's full.

So a little update. Took the bike to the LBS where i purchased it. Both wheels were bent, rear tire was flat spotted down to the tube where i TRIED to stop before i went offroading. He took the fork out, checked the head tube, fork, all other measurements. Rest of the bike is good. We found some new rims, lower coast Bontrager for now, and i'll get it back late this week. Could have been much worse. All the scrapes are scabbed over. Just itch really bad right now,...
