I find that Mequiars Cleaning wax works pretty well 90% of the time. It's a very mild polish and works well with most bike paints. I'll often do the whole frame with it. Scratch-x is a little bit harsher, I usually use that on trouble spots. And I'll use rubbing compound on anything really bad. I bought a small ryobi 6" corded buffer and it does a pretty good job, bu you can do it by hand just as well, with a little more time.

Lovely. I happen to have the same bike and thought about a porteur look.
Then I looked at Amazon.ca for the VO rack...$ 475.00.
Free trade my arse.

Thanks!
My frame cleaning process is always this, and the results have been great:

1. Wipe down with warm soapy water. Get every little bit of grit out.
2. Meguiars Scratch X 2.0 polish. This will not only polish the frame beautifully but will get rid of a lot of the super light surface scratches.
3. Mothers Brazilian Caranuba wax to finish it off.

That would be the way to go, yes. But if I want fenders, levers, rack, sundries, it's a lot to ask and there's the risk of customs opening it anyway.

On the back burner for now.

Nice bike. I am posting this since some here are looking for them. I almost bought this one but it was a tad small. The bike owner is easy to deal with and answers emails quickly. Only 200 and open to offers. Looks in great shape. I wanted to make it a gravel grinder.

I wish we had a similar manufacturer in Canada, but all ours are focused on MTBs.

Clean. Looks like nicer brakes than mine came with too. Did I mention: clean? More than I pay for projects usually but a great rider!

edit: not lugged, I’m sure it’s nice, but that was a draw for me.

This turned out very nice. Looks like a fun ride. Those early 90's hybrids are cool bikes that make for some very fast all-terrain bikes nowadays.
What do you plan on using it for?

That’s nicely done. How is the handling with a loaded porteur rack? I’m in the process of build on a 610 for errand bike use. I almost bought a Triple Cross near me but needed horizontal dropouts for single speed. I’m thinking about a porteur.

My bad, thought it was lugged.
200 is a little high but does not appear to need work. Plus he is negotiable on price. All I would do is put on drop bars, bar end shifters and brake levers.

I’m doing my best at living car free, although I own one, in Denver. So the occasional grocery run or adventuring around town is the main plan. I removed the triples so it’s not really a true tourer anymore.

IIRC the Triple Cross was one of the early hybrids which spanned the gap between Road bikes and MTBs. Essentially meaning a lightweight road bike that can handle wide tyres.
Decent for light touring but probably a bit flexible if you used it for fully loaded touring. But that makes them excellent commuters nowadays!

The Netherlands (and parts of Europe) got a version supplied by Koga-Miyata, a joint venture between Koga design and assembly and Miyata frames called the TerraLiner.
Now that I think of it, I think I told you that before.

The 1993 model was HFL 2095 back then or €1594 ($1909) in today's money and weighed 12.3Kg (27 lbs).

Still enjoy some brochure images:

I had NO IDEA they were that expensive! It is a tremendous frame, so I'm glad they were proud of it.
