Just picked up this Cannondale SH400 yesterday. Haven't done anything to it. Not sure where to start.
Rides fine, probably needs a gear adjustment, but that seems to be about it. Though I am sure a full tune-up and cleaning wouldn't hurt.

Yes I had to make a little cable stop up to go into the old cable guide in the top tube.
still waiting on a couple of bits to arrive, i suspect later this week they will all turn up.
yes, on closer inspection it is nothing special, at the original quick glance it looks like the chainrings were able to come away from the spider but they are definitely riveted on for life.

I don't know if there's anything special about the cranks on these bikes. If it's like mine, it has the 42/34/24 chainrings.

Height wise yes. At least going by what I've read. If I stand over the crossbar I can lift the bike just about an inch off the ground. I might need to get either flat handlebars or maybe turn these forwards so they extend a little bit further out, but otherwise it is comfortable.
I was thinking of trying to fix the spots here and there, it might look patchy when I am done, but better than rust and aluminum showing through.

Has been comfortable so far. It is a Bontrager comfort saddle i believe. I have only rode the bike twice and about a mile or so max each time so I can't tell you how it fares on longer rides. So far so good though.

Complete Innova,
additions-
Ally post,
Tektro Mini-Vs
28mm Deto,s wrapped on a pair of double ally walled hoops,
8 speed cassette with alivio triggers,
All coming in under 12Kg is a reasonably light steel framed flat bar. in fact lighter than my Ally giant CRX and about on a par with my steel framed racer.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
I really like this model of LX right down to the cantilevers,
Here is a pic of the ones waiting, I have another set sitting on my Gary Fisher Marlin, a set on the Giant Innova in this thread. I also have another set coming that I purchased off of our local auction site. So I think I may . . possibly . .like these . . . somewhat.

My friend was in need of a decent bike and my BRC fit the bill and this got him off the bike shaped object that has been frustrating him ever since he bought it... I met up with him the other day and he has been hitting the road and trail with wanton abandon and he just loves the bike. I fitted it out with 700:38 cross tyres to improve his off road experience and let the bike handle our battered up roads.
I have been making due with this pile of spare parts...
Since my commute often looks like this it works rather well...

This is my newly purchased 1997 720 Trek Multitrack, ladies model. bought it from the original owner who hardly ever road it. other than scratches from putting it on car racks, it was in great shape. i had to replace the original gumwall tires as they were brittle. Even the little grey plastic parts on the altus canti brakes are perfect!

Hi guys! I forgot about this thread until I dug the bikes of mine in it out of storage, had too many hairbrain builds on the go at once, got clear of some so ?
Here are the builds in the beginning
The Giant is now flat bar and 3 x 7 Black LX and does not need much except time which like everyone I am short on.
The Trek is pretty much together parts wise and should fly together when I get some of that precious time stuff.
I want to get the Giant going first to check frame size etc then I am thinking of giving it the parts off of my 2013 Jamis Commuter 3 with a 7spd Nexus IGH.
I have rode it now for 18 months as a commuter and find the frame just too stiff, I will try the parts on the Giant and maybe purchase a Soma Saga later on.
Anyway, without further ado . . . . . The Zombie he awakes!

Not sure what year this is, but based on the shifters and breaks it seems to be mid 90's. Couldn't find much if anything about it online in English.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that bike is not from the mid 90s. internal headsets, formed downtubes, stubby barends, and mini vs did not exis in the mid 90s. Plus the graphic design is post 90s. A quick google search turns up the same model for sale at clearance in spain. if anything, its from the mid 2000s on i would guess.

A little update, I have finished a bomb around type bike that I have procrastinated over for an age,
I will get to the Giant and possibly the Trek in the new year.

Here is my early 1990's Giant Nutra.
I got this summer 2013. A very nice riding bike. Has SunTour indexed shifters on it. They work for the most part, sometimes I need to do a 2-down, 1-up maneuver to get the gear I want, but not too bad considering the age of everything.
My easiest, most comfortable bike to ride. Although I haven't ridden it much in the last 6 months or so.

jbchybridrider it is not a saddle for the faint hearted, it is for a man not afraid to cry though?! It was a grip put on while that bike spent a week or so outside, to keep out the rain.

I posted this elsewhere on the forum but thought to put in this special topic as well
I purchased this Bridgestone XO-3 brand new in 1992. It is still 100% complete and original down to the inner tubes!
