I'm keeping it bone stock. It looks like someone rode it around in 1983 & parked it until now... I like all the original components. I'll keep my eyes open for an SR seatpost and appropriate saddle, though. Although the tires look perfect, I decided to order a new pair. The rubber feels hard and it could be a safely issue.
The first night I did a complete service on it, bottom end & headset, derailleur adjustments. I used a cable luber vs. replacing cables, they are fine. I just wiped the bike off... the thing shines.

Looks very similar to my Nishiki Medalist (minus the canti brakes) and like yours it was all original with very few miles, just super dirty. Congrats on your find. Nishiki doesn’t get enough credit, they may not be super desirable, but their higher end models have a great ride.

Primo! i just picked one up for $140 in AZ and feel the same. It has all the modern day 'wants' for a gravel/touring bike. 3 bottle mounting locations, room for 700x43 tires, mid-fork eyelets, a massive triangle, super long chainstays, double butted tubes. I'm building mine now.
