Sometimes, but half the sellers out there think scarce means rare, most of my tall bikes have not been good deals $$$$$ wise but were a "good deal" just finding them for me.

Of course you're right about the common sizes in desirable bikes but often there are more available in those same sizes.

Less tube area to scratch and chip...easier to shift DT...less distance to fall...

on the other side, tall guys like merziac can have 7 braze on water bottles, and still have room for a pump...

That's just the reality of living in a "bike mecca". If you have good infrastructure and good cycling "culture", bikes are more desirable and cost more! You see the over-priced Walmart bikes in the classifieds because they don't sell, so they stay up and visible forever. The good bikes at a fair price are gone much sooner!
