Bob never takes himself seriously. You might enjoy (tolerate) him more if you didn't either.

I think it was last year, but someone e-mailed Bob to correct his pronunciation of Tour DAY France. He explained that one night after a Tour stage, he and a couple of mates went to a restaurant to eat and the waiters completely ignored them because they were American. He said he was so weary, hungery, and mad that he swore he would forever mispronounce "de." I'm not sure how OLN handles the complaints they must get. Despite his speak, the guy's got street cred and that makes him okay to me. I'd like to have a few drinks with him sometime -- I'll bet he' be one animated drunk! Bob don't rule, but he rolls.

Nothing says "I'm having a good life" like wishing someone on TV (whom you have never met) would die.

Get a life.

while i kinda miss seeing kirsten gum, i'm glad she's gone. her stupid fluff pieces drove me nuts. yeah, she's good looking, but tv is full of good looking airhead women. you can click on any channel to find another one. a dime a dozen

I kind of like Bob. Starting a thread saying someone should die could be seen as a threat. I wouldn't post such things.

Bob Roll is just fine - I'd rather watch/hear someone who's been there, done that.

When I first saw him, I mistook his mis-pronunciation "Tour day France" for ignorance. Despite the distracting hand gestures, Bob is quite knowledgeable and entertaining, though for me he's a bit of an acquired taste. I must say that he did irritate me a bit with his joke answer of how fast the riders were traveling going up the mountain climbs the other day. Perhaps that was another inside joke, but I would have liked to have heard a more serious answer. Anybody with the chutzpah to ride up next to Fignon in the peleton and ask "How's it hanging Larry?" has a special place in my heart. I like Bobke.

AHHAHA holding on tight to your twenties?? I'll probably be like that too when I hit that age, I'm 21 now.
When I asked how old you are, I really didnt mean it in a mean way at all, and I wasnt asking this because of something you posted earlier. I am sorry if you took it the wrong way.

90% of the time when I come onto this site, I am looking for information, I usually never post info, because I dont know anything!AHAHA Alot of you guys on here know ALOT of info, and thats why I come on, to learn things I really didnt want to start anything on here with anybody.

Anyway, about his "gap", I was just saying if it was me, I would try to fix it, but its not me, so we will leave it at that.

Not me....I am happy with any cycling coverage that I can get. That is not to say that just anyone would be okay in the booth. As much as I love cycling.tv I would much rather listen to Bob Roll than Anthony Mc Crosson. What would the OP do if there was no TdF coverage at all? All of the whining of these malcontents who have nothing better to do gets rather tiresome. I guess some people are never satisfied...and to say that "Bob Roll must die!" tells me that the OP is a bit disturbed.....whether joking or not. Anyone who thinks that is funny needs to take a serious look at themselves.

I'm glad those idiotic "Cutters" are gone, but I miss Kirsten Gum's hawtness.
Trautwig is miles and miles better this year than last year. This year, he actually asks good leading questions about strategy, etc. Last year, he was clueless.

Roll has probably always been that way - I have to believe OLN hired him knowing exactly what they were getting. He's goofy, but he's been there, done that - so he has credibility, and he's entertaining.

+1

I tivo the live coverage and watch that first, then watch the prime time coverage to hear Bob's stories. I liked his "Toremyleg" story the other night.

I enjoy Bobke's commentary... it's interesting to say the least. He was at a pub not to long ago, at a meet-and-greet for the Cap-Tech Classic, here in RVA, and I'm sort of kicking myself now for having missed it for work. I'm sure it would have been a pretty cool evening, and the beer may have slowed the gesticulating down a bit.
