Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i've acquired quite a few caps along the way so far, my favorite being a custom one made by a friend, the rest are local shop hats. but i did break down and buy a mapei cap a few weeks ago, i like the colors!

also, when riding in the rain behind somebody with no fenders, you can just tilt your head down a little and protect your eyes. it works.

Yes. Because they catch sweat and make my helmet more comfy. Of course there is a coolness factor as well. My team cap.

On Wednesdays, I ride with a group about ten miles, with 1000 feet of elevation, to the tony community of Montrose, in the San Gabriel Mts., above Los Angeles. We spend some time at a coffee house on tony Honolulu Avenue.

When I'm sitting in the sun, which is shines from January through January most Wednesdays in L.A., I pull out my cap, which I picked up at Bike Works NYC, while visiting my daughter in Manhattan last winter. The cap features a painting of a bike, by artist Taliah Lempert, and while it's no babe magnet for me, it does elicit some complementary comments from random passersby whenever I wear it. While I'm downing my iced coffee and a jalapeno-cheese bagel this Wednesday, I'm going to think about my daughter and think about Manhattan, where it will be raining, while my cap keeps the sun out of my eyes.

I have the CSC one from Competitive Cyclist. I wear it because I think it looks pretty cool, I'm not gonna lie. I guess the little brim keeps the sun out of your eyes, but thats about it.

i love them, i burn through one about every 3-4 months before they get too funky or too ripped to wear. thinking about picking up a spare and sewing some bottle cages to the sides a la:
