Could a #2 be beneficial for a ride..
Prior to rolling out the door for that planned ride, do you try to pinch the last slices of a loaf before logging those miles?
Do you view it a wasted effort trying to fulfill the last of the pudding cups?
Does the effort have a potential negative effect that it robs you of energy to make those few sinkers?
Maybe the weight reduction outweighs the effort & might enable you to achieve a KOTM? Would be crappie if all that PR was held up by some stinkin dung!

During my 2017 tour in Montana I had to twice while on the road on two separate days. Only once in 2018. All three times while wearing bibs. Thank God for forests. Always felt more spry after.

Before my Sunday rides, it's not a question of expending effort to lighten the load. More a question of ensuring I've answered all of Nature's calls before I apply chamois creme and pull on the bibs, because having to go after that is just....yeesh.

It is certainly a "wasted" effort. I usually tend to file my paperwork before a ride just by happenstance. It certainly gives me a performance benefit of not having a bunch of crap inside but really it is just how my body works. I am usually not up for long periods before riding unless I have to be for some reason so my #1 #2 is usually not long before a ride.

Coffee works
It’d be a shame to lock this thread..
I haven’t laughed this hard all week.
Oh yes, I get up two hours before a long ride and administer two large mugs of strong coffee to be sure the job gets done.

Personally I like to be comfortable before heading out for a Century ride or a Double Century ride...
I'm not sure trying to "hold it in" for 200 miles would make for a very exciting ride.

Prep
On a serious note…….if you people can manage that for a min.
Is there a recognized way to “prep” for a long timed competition like a triathlon or Ironman ?

If I'm doing a Century (or any ride longer than a couple of hours) then I'm definitely downloading before the start. My morning coffee usually gets the show on the road.

My wife always complains that I take so much time in the bathroom while downloading a file in the Oval Office. I told her I was contemplating the meaning of life. So that became our code for taking a #2. She likes it better than "dropping some friends off at the pool" or "taking the Browns to the Superbowl."
So yeah, I usually contemplate the meaning of life every morning as part of my morning routine, so like to get that out of the way before hopping on the bike. Makes the ride a bit more comfortable.

A number-2 and supply of small paper squares can be beneficial on a ride if you don't have a smart phone.

Minute's up! I always try for The Brown Town Push Down before a ride. We have bidet toilet seats at home like civilized people.
