sometime before Christmas I took pics of this Hercules on a grocery run. While the bike is not something I would pull out my hair for, the condition is rather noteworthy. A weird time capsule, looks like many of such were bought and never used, it really looked like it didn't do a kilometer since the maiden voyage.

thanks for sharing this handsome steed!

shan't be there long if owner insists on employing that "jewelry chain" lock.

Walking the dog at our usual weekend loop today and I saw a guy riding a bike. This is in an industrial park with almost no weekend traffic and the only cyclist I've ever seen over there is me. He was heading away from me on the first sighting and I noticed he was wearing shorts on this very cold day. Second sighting was when he lapped us and I saw the old rigid Stumpjumper he was on. Third time I got this pic and did not notice until downloading and enlarging it that he has no saddle on the bike! Tough guy, or else taking his mind off the cold by concentrating on trying to not Laprade his ass.

Hard Working Winter Trek 1000

I locked up next to this T1000 the other day. He was using non-winter rated tires. Nice bell. I hadn't seen a Krypto lock like that one before. Either that, or it is the cloth labelled Krypto and not the lock itself.

Whoa. I feel like if I had to try to keep up with that person I’d just lay down in a snow bank somewhere.

I haven't seen anything particularly high end, exceptional or/and special whether it is at the railway train station or when going shopping in town. Most people ride mass produced Decathlon or old road bikes. The last time I have seen a nice bike was two years ago, a nice custom made Didier Louis in Reynolds 753 with Dura Ace.

Not really classic, probably not vintage, but it is wild.

It looks old, which means it's actually working!

I spotted this outside of O’Sullivans bar on my way to work yesterday. I’m not sure what this is, but the atmospheric conditions, the bike pointing east and the sun coming you know, were just right that what caught my attention was the Simplex shifters. Looks like a Marin decal on the seattube?

Do you say 'a a. homer hilsen'? 'an a. homer hilsen'? This one has a different seat cluster than most of the photos of this frame I've seen. Older model?

Japanese Veteran Velo in Sendai

There is a shop here in Sendai (east coast port city in northern Japan) that used to be the headquarters for a keirin racing team. The shop is still in the family. Its stock and trade is exclusively high sport and competition machines — but alas no Keirin racing. Still, there is a history hanging from the ceiling. There are some Everests — a couple of track frames and rusty tourer. And Vogue track frame too. The proprietor told me who the builders were, but I forget. They are well-known, and they appear in books and periodicals that celebrate the craft in Japan. I'm sure many of you will know who I mean.

There is info about Everest here at Classic Rendezvous:
Everest bicycles

This looks like a touring machine.

This may have been built by Kajiwara Toshio san or his prototégé Higashikawa Masahiro san

Classy track frames from Everest — a very old bicycle maker in Japan.

I should know more about classic Vogue, but I forget what I've been told. A friend and bike shop owner just down the street from my home has another Vogue on his ceiling too. Damn — not my size!

While doing a little shopping, I locked up beside this. The fellow said a friend gave it to him who'd done an actual Triathalon on it. Appears to be original 105 throughout, Nitto stem on top of it.

Sorry for the poor photos. I didn't want to linger around too long. It was locked up between a Martial Arts School and a Real Estate Agency. Real estate agents really scare me.
