Someone near me is selling a Bianchi fixed gear, but it is completely bare. There are no logos on it, except a bianchiusa sticker on the chain stay. I definitely want to go ride it, and I won't buy it if it doesn't feel right, but is there any way for me to make sure it is a bianchi? The frame is chrome-looking, but I've never seen one without logos. I'm assuming there are certain component groups that bianchi has used for a few years, or some other indicative factor?

Please be courteous and don't snag this from me if you're in the area. I'm planning to go buy it tomorrow. Chain ring, crank arms and brake levers look like the ones on the bianchi pista on their website right now, but why would the owner strip the frame of logos? Maybe theft prevention?

The shape of the track ends and the unicrown fork look consistent with Bianchi's. Honestly, the thing is like the Honda Civic of fixies, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. People strip logos off stuff all the time because they want a "cleaner" look.

Since I'm a newbie here, and especially one that has grown up thinking Bianchi's were awesome (just looks wise), you will have to explain this to me a little... I can't tell if you're saying they suck, or just that they're everywhere and a dime a dozen.

No they definitely don't suck. You don't see them quite as often these days because the market has been flooded with options for cheap fixed gear bikes, but they used to be one of few such bikes available and you'd see them everywhere. It's a fine bike, but being a mass-produced steel frame, it's nothing super special, and there wouldn't really be any point counterfeiting one. Seems like a pretty decent deal.

That's a Bianchi.
It has the original fork, headset, seatpost, saddle and front brake caliper.
Not sure about the cranks. Wheels, bar and stem have obviously been changed.

I don't love the lack of water bottle cage mounts. If I had to do it again I'd get a Soma Rush or something similar with cage mounts.
Also wish it had forged dropouts instead of stamped.
Ain't gonna lie. I enjoy that the name "Bianchi Pista" is recognizable. That's not going to be a problem if you buy the stripped frame.
Send a PM if you have any more questions.

The FSA crank would be worth it if you're building a track bike, and the DA crank would be worth it if you're building a road bike.

The same person who is selling the FSA crank set is now offering me $80 without the chain ring and $110 with the chain ring including the bottom bracket.

Great deal assuming it's not damaged or beat to hell. What would you be using it for?

The condition is pretty decent, just paint wear. I have a single speed bike with a garbage crank set I have been wanting to upgrade soon. I was planning on buying a SRAM S300 to upgrade but I found this. I use my single speed just like a road bike and want stiffness since my current crank set flexes way too much.

The FSA crank should be plenty stiff. I can't speak from personal experience, but one of the stronger guys at my track uses them and they don't seem to be slowing him down. I wouldn't use the DA crank just because of the lack of options in replacement chainrings.
