Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What happened to you today that is cycling related?

..On a quick 40k ride I was yelled at on 3 separate occasions by 3 different car loads of "intelligent" and "witty" rock dwellers!

Just another day on the bike around here.

I rode my bike to work. And I'll ride it home this afternoon. If I can survive the next few hours of tedium at the office, it's all golden.

Woke up, took the dogs for a walk, thinking about how much (or how little) of a cross-training effect there would be from long walks at a meandering pace.

Ate, sent the kids off to school, and spent a few hours in the home office- just screwing around mostly. Once or twice, went out to the garage for things, and noticed the bike.

Went to work for a few hours, just to be able to pay for the bike, the house, the stuff in it. Spent some time at work perusing BF.net, and wondering where I'm riding Friday.

I certainly enjoy the stories about the places I'm not, and the thing's I'm not doing. Do please continue to share.

But this life ain't too bad, either.

Rode 100minutes on the trainer.

Dropped my daughter off for swim lessons and watched the "Boston Roller Dames" roller derby women practice. I was very confused about the point of a derby, but they had my full attention the entire time.

Cool. Coincidentally, I read that Liz Hatch, Johan Bruyneel, two Omega Pharma-Lotto riders and Robbie McEwen all filed restraining orders today.

CK,
Can we swap identities? Only bike related thing I did was 2 hours on the trainer to avoid the rain/snow that is falling. I am very envious of your day.

Cycling related, I cleaned my bike, I used some simple green and wiped down my Chain rings, it went well and now I see silver rather than grease black on my chain rings. I also used some simple green to clean off my frame. I also used simple green to wipe down the side walls of my wheels, my bike looks nice and purdy. Oh and my basement where I do all my tuning and lubing I went ahead and swept and cleaned my floors and organized my working area in anticipation of my soon to be purchased bike stand. I think I had a productive day today, the only thing that was missing was a ride out today, stupid rain and snow. I gunned it on my stationary recumbent bike.

What happened to you today that is cycling related?
1. I got to find out that Ruegamer, the custom bike maker, is no longer a dude. Sex change.
2. I saw my bike on my way out to work this morning. 16 hrs later, I am looking at it while coming back.
3. Got to talk to someone at work about bikes, Again..........

I rode to and from school twice. Grand total of almost 20 miles.

Also found out that I really need a new back tire, the threads are showing through the casing in many places and cut through in others.

New kit!

Johan's car again. I'm not sure if he was in today I'd imagine he changes to a normal car to go about town in.

Got home, made some pasta sauce and some amazing sausage for dinner for the next few nights.

Capped everything off with a proper drink and it's matching hardware.

To be perfectly honest, my ride today sucked. I'm putting in wayyy too much training time. Today and yesterday, my hamstrings were so tight that it was painful to stretch. Usually I can put my palms on the ground, and today I was in pain trying to touch my toes. The prescription? Two days off. My roommate is doing a pro women's kermesse on Sunday to prep for the Ronde, so I'll be her support crew.

Again, to be honest, I'm just happy that I haven't had to wash my bike for three days running.

dude, watch it with the duvel.

even my belgian friends (from neighboring waregem) think of it as the stuff that serious drinkers drink.

seeing as you're 19, you might want to pace yourself with something lighter, like a vedett.
