Strava vs. Ride with GPS for Routes on Garmin

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Another scenario around here is crossing from a main road to the end of a cul-de-sac: the 20ft of grass is all public easement, but the software won't allow you 'off the roadway'.

The result in these cases is usually a 10 to 20 mile detour; with RWGPS, you can simply manually draw the route-line you need, then flip the switch to go right back to following roads.
You can draw a line on Garmin , Not sure about strava

Having tried RWGPS, Strava, Komoot, and cycle.travel, I now use RWGPS almost exclusively for route planning. It's the only one that has always generated a route that works perfectly with my Garmin, it has the best selection of maps, and on the one occasion I had to contact support I had a very fast response.
