Also, my LBS has a steel Schwinn Le Tour in what I think to be good condition. No rust, rides very smooth, has been tuned up and is ready to go - they're asking $275
Making the purchase from your LBS is more reliable than from CL. I say try to get the price down to $250 OTD...If not, go for it anyway!

That Schwinn is a really nice bike!

Good Luck!

I'm fairly certain that the 80's Le Tours were Cro-Mo, which would make them lighter than mine. The ones made in Japan were built by Panasonic, which is going to be a good bike. In my experience/opinion, pretty much any Japanese-built bike from the 70's/80's that you are likely to encounter will be a pretty good bike, and you shouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg to get it.

Oh haha awesome. I'm pretty sure this one is an 80s model, I am definitely going to check it out soon. I was thinking it might be a little expensive too, but then again it would cut out the extra hassle and cost to find and have to fix up a bike found on craigslist. I'm gonna go give it a ride sometime this upcoming week

Oh haha that's awesome. This was probably an 80s model. Yeah I was thinking it was a little on the expensive side; I might go check it out and talk to them about pricing and some other things. I'll have to give it a good ride too

Hey, if you can wait till the end of the semester, the school takes all of the unused bikes on the bike racks and throws them away or sells them. You might could find a sweet bike that way. My fav LBS in Athens is the HUB. They are actually the most helpful. Agora downtown also sells sweet used bikes, too. Good luck.

Bikeathens also has a back to school sale at the beginning of the semester. Also don't get to caught up about frame material. You are just riding around campus. Any bike that fits will work.
