Now thats what I am talking about. Yes I got a killer deal too with the 105 group. Pics are bad as I just took quick ones. I had a CAAD5 before that was a bit small I love the new bike! I would like to upgrade the small things any suggestions?

depends on what you call small and are you wanting to upgrade performance or appearance?

Yeah left those on, my mistake The cages came with the bike they really suck. Small upgrades as in cages yes. I weighed the bike at work and it was 20 lbs. I don't have one of the real scales to use yet. I would like to drop a pound or so though. Still learning

Well if your looking to drip weight you have a couple options. All depends on what you can afford or save up. IMO, after your frame, wheels are the next important item to look at, but your looking at spending around $300+ just to get into an entry level wheel. (Lately I have come to recommend soul or Boyd wheels). Some cheaper options is to swap out your stem and seat post. My buddy just got a cad 10 and his stem and seat post seem to be fairly heavy. Between those 3 options, wheels, bottle cages and stem/post, I would say that would he a good start. Later you can look into a lighter crank set, maybe different bars too. Would say saddle also, but if it works for ya then stick with it.

Hey everyone!
Been drooling over this thread for a while and finally got my hands on a nice CAAD10 while I was in Hong Kong~
Basically a CAAD10-4 with Rival group, the shop allowed me to switch the color scheme to that black/green from a CAAD10-3. Switched the stock wheels for a set of Ksyrium SL's, and put a set of yellow Keo 2 Max pedals on it
I didn't get to take a nice photo of it while I was in still in Hong Kong, but I did a little photo-chop job with stock images from C'dale's site, and it looks exactly like this:
Next on the list to make it better is to switch out the saddle for something that fits my heavy ass better!

Here's a question about a weird (but good) discovery I've made recently. This situation has occurred many times, withthe same result:
- I'm going up a hill with a group.
- We crest at the exact same speed, then free wheel for a bit.
- I run away from the others.
- Some of the other riders are bigger / heavier than me, others are smaller / lighter. Makes no difference.
- There's no slipstreaming.
I rode RAGBRAI last week, and over those 500 miles I had dozens of opportunities to deliberately test this situation. I tested it by slowing down a bit to let the others run away from me, yet my bike still accelerated and caught up. I tried to skew the results every which-way - but got the same result every time: My (almost) factory-stock CAAD9 simply freewheels faster than anything else I've come across. The only changes I've made is the tires (Conti GP 4000 S 23s).
This is obviously not a complaint, though I'd be curious to know what could be contributing to this welcome advantage.
Any thoughts?

I'm looking at buying a CAAD5 R800 Sport used in the $600 price range and was wondering if you CAADxperts could give me some advice?
Is this a good deal for this bike?
Would I be able to fit bigger tires (possibly CX tires) on it for a more comfortable ride and better not on just tarmac? Looks like it has a campy proton wheelset

I doubt you could get CX tires on a CAAD. The CAAD5 was last made in 2007 so I think $600 seems a bit high.

Anyone find good green bar tape that's a match for the green on the 10-3? It's quite hard to tell from pictures online what will match.

question for anybody. i recently have been riding and while climbing out of saddle, something in the steering tube/fork area is making a squeaking noise, a noise similar to rubber rubbing on metal. i believe its due to the humidity because i never experienced this. i was in NJ and NYC ...its a bit embarrassing and annoying. is there a way to prevent this from happening? do i have to dissemble and re lube this? thanks...

Did you check to see if it maybe coming from you cable housing rubbing? That happens to me sometimes and it can sound like it's coming from the steerer tube.

no its not, im sure. i rode for 50 miles like this and inspected everything while on bike. it happens when im only out of the saddle cranking it and pulling/pushing up on handlebars. when im just sitting and pedaling theres no more noise...if i were to describe it with an animal noise..it sounds like a goose and a low tone and i can feel it vibrating when theres noise. not a dangerous rattle noise either. like wet rubber rubbing on metal...

I'm certain the welds are structurally quite sound, and of high quality.
But they aren't as pretty as the CAAD9 welds. Having had my 9 next to a 10, the CAAD9 is, well, prettier.

Noticed the same thing on Copper Triangle with my CAAD9. I'm 10 pounds lighter than my buddy and his bike is heavier and he was pedaling away while I was sitting up coasting.
