In general, though, this seems to be a pretty tame subforum, definitely the most accepting of a WIDE range of questions so long as they maintain some semblance of C&V. Quite refreshing, I like it.

I simply don't care in the context of this forum what the merits of hydraulic shifting, 'lectric brakes are "today" since such doo-dads simply didn't exist on Classic/Vintage machines.
I see no way having owned C&V machines since they were new to extrapolate the favorite qualities of any, other than my FG machine, into a handy check-list for modern replacement.
Look at the Long Distance sub-forum for real information on such, and certainly not the mire of the 41.
Let C&V be what it is, a nice anachronism in a tech/fad/fashion driven sport looking fondly at "back when".

However this is C&V where the subject/provenance is emphatically Not current tech by definition and interest.

Or perhaps a better question, since I never got a straight answer on the ebikes in the touring forum debacle, when there is a bleed over between two realms, why is it so hard for people to just ignore the threads they have no interest in, and why do so many without stars next to their names insist on telling others where they are allowed to post? I mean, a quick glance at the first page of the forum shows at least three threads about ebay/CL postings (DEFINITELY current tech), a bike from the 2002s (not vintage, IMO), a story about a handmade frame (there is a framebuilders forum), a thread about non-vintage mirrors (proably should go to A&S), and if I cared to read a few more, probably at least a couple that aren't wholly dedicated to C&V.

If I dissemble this new acquisition and store it in parts in the garage, will my wife notice I just bought my 11th bike?

I can't truly know your moral and ethical structure, but thank you for that.

How long until this is in Foo? It's pretty good.
