Until this moment, I thought that there were "cables" and "housing."

Today I learned that "inner cable" is a term that means something. I still don't know what, though. A cable within a cable? The Bowden Nesting Cable? Cables and metacables. Does the inner cable pull the brake within the brake that brakes the wheel within the wheel that runs on the road within the road?

That is very freakin trippy.

Painting cable housing is a bad idea IMHO. What's the first thing you notice about old bikes? Battered discolored cable housing with split vinyl and exposed rusty inner sleeves. Well worth the extra $$ to color coordinate and get something nice without paint drips and brush marks.... Next to tubes and tires, it's probably the most common replacement item for CVs.
