Aero tuck vs pedal sprint downhill - Trying to improve a Strava segment

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, but adding parameters like "recently repacked hubs" and "squeezed top tube with knees" would make the calculator unwieldy.

Gears help.

My TT bike training setup in 2x mode is 56/42 and 11-30. No mountains here, nothing super long/steep. So gears and still making power beats all else.

I thought they stopped that after some tragedies a few years back?

I've noticed around here that Strava subscribers flag segments they don't like, particularly descents where there are side roads. Good for them.

Just got a PR on a descent the other day - so they certainly don’t discourage pushing downhill speed. Too big a chicken to get a KOM downhill but did see the KOM downhill times relative to my PR. It would be interesting to see if someone gets hurt pursing a KOM and tries to sue.

I flagged a segment that goes through a black hole and emerges in a parallel universe where time runs backwards. The longer you take the better your average speed!

Has it yet been mentioned what the downhill gradient actually is for the segment in question? I'd think this would directly tie in to an answer to this thread's title.

It's happened at least twice that I know of and I read that the first one was dismissed

it's a -6.2% gradient. It's not that steep!
