Ridiculous
I find it quite ridiculous to argue about what materials to build a bike out of. All materials, all riders have strengths and weaknesses. All opinions on the subject have valid and appropriate points of view. I feel it is unnecessary for me to disparage what, or how others ride. If I do that, all it does is showcase my insecurities and my attempts to cover them to make myself feel superior. Let me ride and enjoy whatever I want to ride and you do the same. I have 1 steel frame, 1 aluminum, 1 carbon fiber, and 1 titanium, listed in chronological order of purchase. I like to ride all four of them and appreciate the differences between them.

It was a squeeze play from back in the day when people rode inferior quality bikes like LHT's because they didn't know better.
Now, by my reckoning; steel is real, wood is good, Al (A-ell) is swell and carbon... doesn't rhyme with anything so... it can't be used in poetic bike speak easily.

What I look for in a frame material is a good rhyme--tin is in, lead or dead, my cranium wants uranium, snot is hot.

My aluminum bike has a steel fork, and one of my steel bikes has a carbon fork. I might be doing it wrong.

I like reading the posts where people explain why they like or dislike something because that can be informative and interesting, or you might get a chance to inform them they're wrong about some feature or another--I know I've learned things from people correcting my misperceptions.
Where these threads always go south is when someone posts something like "only _____s and ____s use X" where you can fill in the insulting blanks and name the X item. Also "funny" are people who insult your riding skills if you post that you like something because it's easier to use.

Exactly! 'Troll" isn't a synonym for "guy I disagree with".
From the OP: "It's all 90% of the carbon fanboy-weight-weenies need.Tell me I'm wrong."
I agree with him that I don't want carbon frames, but every word of that is trolling.

Agreed
Arguing is ridiculous, discussing differences and preferences is fine.

I could be wrong but pretty sure the OP was neither trolling nor expressing an opinion - just having fun.
Of course it doesn't matter what material the bike is made of... as long as it has a mid mount e motor.

The carbon fiber-reinforced polymer craze makes perfect sense to me given the ever increasing number of pudgy riders one sees. Weight is weight and one loses it where one can, I suppose.

Exactly! Buying a lighter bike loses weight immediately, while dieting *might* lose some weight later. You can still do both.

I feel like this is a good time to mention my 1463 gram steel frame.
