Today's ride is my longest since I got back into cycling. Also my first ride with a bike computer so I can track distance, time etc. Today I did 14.4 miles with my AS being 11.3 mph. My total this week is 44.3 miles about where I need it to be. I plan on increasing that thru the summer, my goal is 50-55 miles per week by the end of July. I still get tingling and numbness in my fingers but I hope an increase in the height of my handlebar solves that. I hope all the Dads out there enjoyed their day.

Yesterday- Went down to Batesville, IN, for a 50-mile ride that was a joint venture of Indy and Cincinnati tandem clubs. Fairly hilly but the Cinci folks said they've seen worse. So have we!

I did a group ride this morning, 40 miles with a strong wind that always seemed to be a head wind.

My annual birthday ride, plus a bit more since it was Fathers' Day so I ended up with a metric century hitting most of my regular circuits. Mostly rolling hills. I probably shouldn't have tried that as a fasted ride since I haven't done many longer rides this year. Everything after about 54 miles was at around 14 mph, with me breathing heavy

21 miles on a beautiful Sunday evening just to do some grocery shopping. Yeah, I picked the most distant practical grocery store I could find along the most scenic route, just to enjoy the full moon and post-sunset cool-down.

Nothing wrong with 14mph. My average speed is 15mph (with peaks of 21). I'd rather go further than faster.

22.2 miles today on the Roubaix. Got a late start (overslept) and it got a little warm. Summer daze are finally here.

Nothing wrong with 14 mph if it's the plan, but if it's a bonk and you're struggling to move forward there's something wrong. On the bright side it's good to find out my limits.

72 km with my wife, her on her '93 Marinoni, me on my Cervelo R3 Team. Hilly, with over 1000 metres climbing and very windy, 20-40 km/h gusts, which kept average speed down to an unspectacular 22.1 km/h. Our course took us from Ayer's Cliff in Quebec, down to the US border, and back up the eastern shore of Lake Memphremagog. Beautiful scenery but we had to work hard to enjoy it.

Had 25 planned, but "she who must be obeyed" decided I was grilling kebabs this evening so I did an 18 mile sprint to shave some time off the ride to get the grilling done. I'm not complaining here, I always enjoy an adult malted beverage or 2 while the grill is on.

I call it a sprint, but most others would call it an old guy going nowhere very slowly on a bicycle.

22 miles total today as a Bike Commuter. Very humid this morning and hotter on the ride home but at least the thunder/lightning/downpour held off till after I'd been home a couple of hours.

Yes, took my 60s 26" Rollfast lightweight out as the other two are down, to get parts and grab a bite.

Couldn't believe the temperature this morning when I went out to ride. 63º at 7:30 am when it's normally in the mid-upper 70s at that time. It felt good but I was totally unprepared for it. Didn't go very fast for the first half hour until the sun warmed things up a bit. Had an excellent 50 mile ride with my buddy Frank C this morning. Got in with a few fast groups and got a real nice workout.

13 mile ride this evening after work. Not too hot, not too windy but some of both. Summer is almost here!

20 miles tonight, about half along the Trinity Trails on the far west end. Emergency personnel and swift water rescue were investigating a report of a man who fell or jumped from either the Bryant Irvin Road or or Chisholm Trail Parkway bridge. I backtracked to the Clearfork Main Street bridge to scout the south/east trail side of the river, but didn't have bright enough lights to do much good. By nearly 10 pm I figured I was more of a pest and distraction than any help, and there were more emergency personnel walking along the shore, so I went home.

Made it out at 0735 yesterday with cooler temps and lower humidity. Hadn't been on the bike for a week and things just didn't feel right. I was 2nd youngest, will be 66 in two weeks, with the young guy at 54 and others 67, 69, 70, 72 and 73.

I separated from the pack at the 20 mile point then hooked back up with young Bob at 32 miles and finished with 70 miles.

Started a little earlier Tuesday. Picked up another thumb tack on the bike path. That's two thumb tacks in 6 days, different locales. Got on ebay and ordered more patches and 6 more CO2 refills. 22.5 miles on the Allez.

Seven miles into my Tuesday morning ride I got my first flat since I returned to cycling about a year ago. The culprit looked like a small sharks tooth and had punctured a newish gatorskin in the middle of the tread clear through to the tube. It was a wasn't exactly 'nascar pit' fast but I got it going after awhile and using a CO2 cartridge for the first time ever!

Rode several miles after work last night, on trails beside the mighty Mississippi. Although the setting was serene, the sky spoke of unsettled weather to come. Today it is supposed to rain.

Nice ride with my buddy Steve but not the most enjoyable 51 mile ride I've done. First lap of the ride was with Steve the second was solo. Didn't get my chain oiled like I wanted to, before the ride, so the pedaling wasn't as smooth and easy as it normally is. The park rangers did a controlled burn in a section of the park yesterday and today the smoke was still pretty heavy. Coughed and hacked my way through that until the winds picked up and blew most of the smoke away. So during my solo lap, what do the rangers do? Why they burn another section of the park right along the trail, of course. Had to ride through very thick smoke with flames about 20 feet away for about 1/4 mile or so. I guess they didn't think about burning that section of the park when they had that path closed for repaving, last month.

Decided to be a little lazy today and took the trike - tho it does require more leg effort (3x rolling resistance, 40lbs of trike). Good workout, hit 18mph for a stretch. 23 miles.

In Jacksonville cohabitation of unmarried people is currently a second-degree misdemeanor, punishable by a $500 fine and 60 days in jail. In 2006, a woman had her husband arrested for cheating.

John, was that in Starkey Park? Here's a picture of a controlled burn still smoldering while doing my evening ride today.

Any more thumb tacks and you'll be eligible to ride the Tour de France. Seems to me it was commonplace in years past.

17.5 miles tonight. Lovely evening for a ride.
