Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I moved mine to the side so I could look for something in the cabinets it was leaning on.

Does that make me a bad person?

Great move. I've got one in the stable I probably only rode a couple times in the last few years. I need to mix it up more often.

I can't speak for the previous poster but I have that very Park chain cleaner and like it a lot.

I do like it a lot. I don't have any expectations that I'm increasing my chain life by 25% or anything like that, but:
1. It's fast and easy
2. It's messy but not as messy as other methods of cleaning.
3. It does a good job of getting the grime off and prepping for re-lube.

That dummy hub really helps too... I use it for this and for a spacer in my bike airline bag.

A few days ago sold a bike.

Yesterday bought an Easton EA70 wheelset (see 'tire lust' thread) $110 from craigslist.

I want to mount some 30mm Schwalbe tires for around-town. The new wheels have nice CX tires mounted,

which turned out to be glued much better than my equivalent CX wheels (Mavic SSC), so I cleaned & put some glue on those.

I use my Park chain cleaner a lot now. It beats having to remove the chain every time and it works pretty well.

I put a new GP4000 SII on my rear after my older tire split at the bead. This time I went with a 700x25 as that's what the shop had where I've been using 700x23 for years. It is a bit more comfortable in the ride and corners better. I'd put one on the front too, except that my front still has a lot of life left. I don't think any of my other bikes needs a tire either so I may just hold off. I also did 75 miles after using Squirt lube on the chain. It held up, but I think I'll reapply for my next ride on that bike. It'll be mostly commuter this week.

Removed the saddle and put a spare on. I suddenly find myself having to replace one and it does not make me happy.

Today I just rode it, but this past Saturday I replaced the tires and scrubbed the wheels of the Casati (and otherwise cleaned the rest of it). I'd intended to ride it Sunday, but I woke to lightning and thunder well before dawn, fell back to sleep, and didn't wake back up again until right about the time the group ride was scheduled to get underway. But the bike looked and rode great this morning.

Had my Colnago branded Tektro calipers replaced with 5800s, so I now have a full 105 bike.

Honestly didn't expect a huge improvement, but the 5800s are far stronger. The rear doesn't do much of course because physics, but the front really gets the job done in a hurry. Colnagos were arguably prettier, but these get the job done much better.

EDIT: After the LBS did the install I spent some time tonight tweaking them to get them totally perfect. Was later standing in the garage admiring the bike when I sadly realized the rear wheel wasn't centered in the chainstays, but this bike frame is symmetric. Sure enough, wheel wasn't fully seated in the dropout which correcting then centered it...and sent me on a 45 minute path of readjusting the rear brake. Got it done though and it even seems to work even better than before.

Finally rode tubeless on the Reynolds Strikes i bought a while back. My go-to shop couldnt get the new tires to seat and hold over 85Psi...every excuse from blaming the tire, to the wheels being defective and even counterfit, the waxy film on the new tires, to road tubeless working better as a system ( same brand tire and wheel....) Took it elsewhere. Turns out the rim tape install was suspect and was damaged getting the tire on. The pricey Finish line sealant used that i never asked for was dumped in favor of good ol' Stans. Really hurt over the fact that i was being pushed towards buying a house brand tire as an alternative over going over their install, after they had charged me a ridiculous 2 hrs labor ( sour grapes over bringing tires to them)...whereas the shop that took care of the issue had both wheels in my hands holding 100psi 45 minutes later. Anyways, finally done and rolling nice.

Also dumped the old faded cork tape in favor of Fizik Performance, much deeper color better matches my saddle.

pulled off both water cages for a shortish ride. gave the bike a much overdue a good soapy/hot water scrub a dub dub (that damned bar tape grime!) and rinse after a 525+ mile week fraught
with mud/muddy water/water and general disrespect. added a new chain at the lbs after getting three miles into a 20 mile ride and dropping the all of four months old chain and then "scootering"
back on the bike approx three miles to the lbs. brought a sixer of ipa to the boys at the lbs and resumed my soft pedal ride
