Although the current temperature of 25 degrees in Atlanta is giving me pause, as a frequent visitor and now newcomer, I ride the Silver Comet regularly, and enjoy it, along with getting some hills in around Stone Mountain, and the Conyers Monastery Trail. I think the Silver Comet is something like 94 miles long, so offers a good route for day rides and training for longer ones. No hills, however, until you go west toward Alabama.
Are any rides planned for later this winter, or early spring?

Silver Comet
FYI
In the spring April / May, the City of Rockmart, Georgia has a small town festival with a fun ride + Metric Centry. I think this is in May. (on the SCT).
Also, in May the City of Jacksonville, Alabama has a Grand Event with a fun ride + Centry + UCI qualifying 165 milers to the top of a local Mt. Cheaha. (local roads and some Chief Ladiga Trail).
Check with the City's web site form information.
Also, check out the site for more information on the SCT / CLT trails: Silver Comet Trail Mileage Chart
You can zoom in to the map for more details and reset MP# 0 to where you want plus it has a forum for more information.
Most of the Trail is flat 2% or less. The steepest part is between Rockmart and Cedartown with an 8% section.
Georgia the trail is concrete & Alabama the trail is asphalt, (some times Rooty)
Hope this helps.
