Me and datlas.

Here, they would not let us go up to the village but did allow descending a different way than we came up. There were 10 dump trucks working and they felt it was too dangerous for us to be on the twisty, narrow road ahead. We still had to be careful on the descent but it's a bit wider.

We took a little break after the truck zone.

Lots of flowers on the 10 mile climb. Quite fragrant in spots.

We were able to go 10 miles after this sign before we had to change the route. A guy told us he went up last Thursday but the trucks were not working.

This cafe was closed. We were able to get water, though. Nothing else up there.

The Perch in Chandler, AZ is called The Perch because they have a bunch of exotic rescue birds there that enjoy perching on things.

Y'all think Bottas really took care of 51 tacos? Surely he had a normal amount of tacos and had his pic taken with the sign...

Bike has left the UPS facility in Bozeman heading for Missoula. That’s a distance only 217 miles. And I found a place that sells fuel by the ounce. Quart cans have become harder to find.
UPDATE: Bike has been delivered!

Had a great ride yesterday with Big John (as seen above) of course I could not control my climbing enthusiasm and rode off the front and somehow missed a turn, so finished the ride solo. It was a fantastic ride despite not being allowed to go up Mt Baldy as far as desired.
Today is travel day and tomorrow it’s back to the grind.

And another thing. Those guys at the lbs insisted that mtbs now have 68 mm shells. I don’t think they’d ever seen or heard of a 73 mm shell.

This Avalanche is a unicorn. The crank set is oem only, though I found one on Ebay. The 73 mm bb too. I found two on Amazon. One ships from Europe and the other from Japan. Let’s hope I don’t really need it. I also found out this morning that loctite exists only online
Wierd wild stuff
They’re all over Ebay but, unfortunately Ebay Mexico is a name only. It’s the same site. If I truly need it, Bob can bring it down.

Sly Stone continues to receive posthumous accolades for the impact he had on popular music. I can't recall the last time I saw the NY Times devote almost two whole pages of space to a piece on someone's life. And that's in addition to a half page obituary immediately following his death a couple days ago

His story about how Steve convinced him to implement round rectangles is classic Steve.
