nice - i did a 10th anniv 200k yesterday as well! Seattle Randonneurs had a pretty big one, with about 50 people there or so.

a friend of mine came who hasn't been riding much, and... he basically had a heat stroke (it was about 90), and i had to hitch a ride for him to the next control! i rode there and was late by about 10 minutes.. we ended up cutting the brevet short at the 100km mark and riding 25 km back to the start.

and since we'd gotten lost (20 extra kms!) on the ride earlier, we both ended up doing just over 100 miles for the day, so it wasn't a complete loss.

August century #2:

103.09 miles
6:06:13
2880 ft of climbing
16.89 mph avg

My first under-6 hours century: at 100 miles, my time was 05:55:49. And my fastest century to date.

Beautiful day, though cold for the first couple of hours (I started at 6:15am, the temp ranged from 42 upward, didn't hit 50 until about 9am), by 11 it was sunny and pleasant, temp in lower 70s.

August #2 done. 204 km in 8:10 total time, 7:56 riding time. Had a nice tailwind at first, and at the 102 km turning point my average was 35.3 kmh (very fast for me). But on my way back the tailwind became a nasty headwind and my average dropped to 25.6 at the end. Still I am satisfied with this ride, as it will let me reach more than 1000 miles for August.

August done, with about 4 hrs to spare.
Just over 7hrs. Very hilly first half followed by a 30km downhill and the rest flat.

Nice day out, spring is almost here. Spent 10minutes herding sheep which is not uncommon on rural NZ roads.

I'll be a participant in the 2009 thread. I have a few centuries behind me, and intend to do the Year Rounder Challenge in the upcoming year. My plan is actually to fold in several late-year challenge rides so that I can do a few of the "rides I want to do before I die". In particular I want to do the Six Gap in North Georgia (and I'd like to do the Bridge-to-Bridge in NC, but they seem to be two weeks apart).

I'm going to do centuries in October (already picked that one) November and December of this year.

September century ride #1: New York City Century Tour!
100.95 miles
14.71mph avg
2800 ft of climbing (though it seemed a lot flatter than that to me)

This was a great ride, amazing views of all parts of the city, in a way you never see it usually. I'll be doing this one again next year.

Two more centuries planned for this month.

September done ... 161 kms.

Highlights
-- a multitude of sailboats on Sylvan Lake
-- the inmates cleaning the ditches
-- 100 or so motorcycles roaring out of one of the towns
-- 2 flats ... yes, I flatted once ... and flatted again 100 metres later. Yay.
-- construction, road oiling, changed route
-- very, very tired legs from a hopping exercise routine in a physical education class on Thursday!

My father rode the first 88.2 kms with me which was nice, but sadly Rowan is not able to ride with me just now as he is on the other side of the world.
