are spinergy rev-x's really that bad?

I rode one on the front. Maybe for about 300 miles. The hubs were really noisy. Mechanic said there was nothing he could do about it. It is really not a lightweight wheel, there's so many more cheaper ligher wheels that are just as strong out there. It looks cool, but after reading about countless failures I decide to sell it and move on to a lighter though not as cool looking spoke wheel.

That sucks. Luckily it didn't do that to you when you were riding it.

Wow. Did we tell you so or what?
I guess you should have kept that giant FRAGILE sticker on your bike.

He already took it off from the video; I guess just having it there in the first place cursed it already.
We saved his life, go on pat yourself on the back, you deserved it. Better off, he officially owes us all one.

Bikes: Cervelo Soloist/S1 w/DA and Red, Trek 2.3 w/DA... have HAD a Trek Team Time Trial, Cervelo P4, Trek 5500, Trek 1000 w/DA, Fuji Team w/DA (HATED that frame, never fit right)
Chiming in...
Just thought I'd chime in here...
I"ve had 2 pairs of Rev-X'x over the years. Regretted selling the first set that I'd owned for a couple years enough that I bought a second pair which I had for 10+ years. Only recently had those destroyed by a driver on a cell phone running into the back of my car while the bike was mounted to the rack. C'est la vie...
I ride "road". Put 10's of thousands of miles on my two pairs... never a hint of a problem. Had the bearings replaced with ceramics when that craze started... they only got faster. ;-)
They were heavy, compared to newer Zipp's and the like, but plenty slippery (I'd ridden crits, and done Time Trials with them). The only thing I don't like about them is that I can't find a decent used set now that I'm without a pair.
Lighter than a HED-3. Bullet proof... true as the day I bought them (new) on the day they were destroyed.

Saw a roadie yesterday with TWO spinergy's on his bike. I wanted to drive up to him and shout something about his imminent death.

Working knowledge...
Unless you have actually died while riding Rev-X's, or personally know someone who has, you don't know that the person riding a pair is going to die. I never died in the years of riding mine. So...

This quotation notification feature is interesting, isn't it?
Given the context of that post, I feel compelled to point out that it was in reference to HED-3 wheels, not Rev-X's.
