I got my kilo today, cut the stem and got my brake put on right out of the box

my kilo in its current form:

origin-8 mustache bar
3w led light
dura ace brake
kinesis carbon fork
sram s300 cranks with my old mtb spds
wheels off my bianchi san jose

wooo! i got my kilo yesterday and built it up. seems a hair too short for me (53cm, i am 5'11"), but i have to wait for the rain to stop to ride it to be sure

another question boo : ( i exchanged the wheels for mavic cxp22s had the lbs change the lockring and now the cog seems to make some noise i went back and asked them to take a look at it they took it off and reput it on and it still makes the noise could it be the chain? maybe dirty? i've been messing around with the tension on the chain and it seems how no matter how i move it it still makes the noise. should i just live with it? it's not loud or anything but i can hear it when i'm riding.

Any advice?

If it fits you comfortably don't worry about anything else. I'm just a hair shy taller than you and got the 55 and it fits just right but take into consideration the changes in inseam and arm length and its more about comfort than numbers.

Clean and lube the chain, made my drivetrain quiet as can be. It made noise even right out of the box new but as soon as I lubed the chain the noise went away. Can't hurt by cleaning it either as you should be doing it as routine monthly maintenance IMO.

gotcha will do i've been lubing it but still makees the noise i'll clean it and see if that helps thanks!

it only makes the noise when i'm going faster like under ten mph i'd say it doesnt make the noise but over it it does. i lubed it and still no luck : (

make sure you wheel is centered in the fork ends.

This happens on my TT Pro as well, and I have only had it for five days.

The sound does not occur when I am strolling around, but, once I begin to pick up speed, a sound from the cog region emits. It is rhythmic, too, so I know when it occurs. I do not know why it occurs, though.

*If you are SURE that everything is aligned, lubed and working properly (see your local mechanic if you need..)*
Don't worry about it. Ignore it and ride.
Mine made noise for about the first month of daily riding. Now it's totally silent.
Just give it some time....
I think the drive train just needs to wear in a little.

Ride.
Enjoy.
Repeat.

It normal to hear a little bit of noise when you put either a new chain, chainring or cog because thy are rounded. This will solve by itself, just ride your bike and lube it when necessery and at some point the noise you hear will just stop gradually. that is if everything is set properly on your bike.

Yeah, my friend said that it was a natural occurrence as it is a new bike. I will wait it out and see, as well as make sure that everything is properly aligned tomorrow.

I checked everything when I put the bike together, but I will double-check.

building up a bike island frame right now. first time i've built a bike from scratch. thought it would be cheap, boy was i wrong.

i've been riding a overly large '75 sekai conversion for the last 6yrs...great bike with lots of nostalgia (it was my pops when he was in grad school).

i'm worried that the 55cm frame is going to be a bit small for me. standover is good, but i haven't been on it with a stem/bars yet.

as far as the stems go have any of you using shims on the 1" steerer ever had problems? also, what crank/BB combo are you guys running to get close to 42cm? i'm going with the sugino xd crankset and was wondering if it requires a 103 or 107mm bb.

I haven't had any problems using 1-1/8 stems with shims, seemingly it's the most practical way to go in terms of selection/options.

try more slack on the chain yet? i put more slack on the chain and no more spinning noises~

I just went to one of those vinyl sticker booths in the mall and asked them to make me a mercier sticker. Cost me around 12 bucks for 2. Oh yeah and you get to choose the font, of course. I was debating between cursive lettering or one similar to the Yamaguchi lettering.
