Wacky, I'm riding to the fairgrounds from Neptunes net tomorrow. I may see some of you out there, though I think I'll be in and out of there while most of you are on the road.

I saw you only in the fist 5 miles?!
So, how was your time?
I was the first in the lunch break and first to finish the 102miles.
This route is easy. only 3500ft of elevation and maybe 5 miles of real climbing (i.e small ring in front).
Avg speed 18.5Mph total time 5:58, ride time 5:30
I assume no fast riders come to this type of centuries because I know so many riders that are much faster than me
I did see someone with BF jersy; not sure who was he.

No much photos...
I do have one when I am the first in the lunch break. They didn't yet have it ready when I came, so I ended up making my own sandwitch and drinking water ... and continue.

Becase I did 200 few weeks ago, I thought to do a 100 as fast as I can.
From the start I push my pedals to 20mph, and try to not let go. Using my HBM as alert when it goes below 135.
I rode with another 2 guys, both on some kick-ass $6000 bikes (15.6lb Trek Madone 5.9 SL)
In the hills (or one hill) one of them passed me by a large margin and the other passed me at the last mile. Both skipped the rest stop, so I skipped it too and show my risky down hills skills I got from riding a motorcycle for many years. I passed one, and in about 10 miles got the the other. I kept on going and got the the lunch break. Going back we drift in a nice cycle; but 10 miles from the end they got some what slow, so I went a bit more solo, and real fast the last 2 miles.
After doing 200 miles, when I finish the 100 I felt we need to keep going or something because it was only 1:00PM

This was a very well organized event. The people where great and the rest stops with plenty of food and drinks.
I didn’t break any speed records but had a great time.
109 miles 8:02:27 13.61 mph
The official mileage was 102.3 but Santa Barbara is so pretty that I took a side trip!
Biking on HWY 101 was great! All the speeding cars on one side and the amazing Pacific Ocean on the right gave me a big adrenaline high!
I spent half an hour on rest stop 5 (Rincon Beach Park). This place is on the top of a cliff with a million dollar view!
Well, it sounds like a travel to California report instead of a biking report!

I ride really slowly because I’m afraid I’ll miss something if I go faster!

During today’s ride I saw this!
Can somebody explain to me why somebody would want Pigeon manure?
At least it’s free

I snicker every time I pass that sign. My friend does comment that the flowers she has planted at street level seem to do real well so maybe it works well as a manure.

When we saw that sign a couple of years ago, we came up with a new name for that hill. When describing the 2nd summit on Casitas, we call it Bird ***** hill.

You were FAST Shai!! I tried to stay with you and those other two boys but couldn't hang on...
Then I got caught at a light turning left on to Victoria...I lost you after that.
My ride time was 6 hours 10 min. 16.4 mph ave speed...
didn't quite make my under 6 hours goal...
Hey Herb, I saw you in SB I think...I yelled but don't think you heard me..
you were on your back towards ventura.... I think Markaj was with you and not sure who else...
Hope you had a good ride!

I am putting my ride report in here since we sort of rode the same area...
We originally called it the "No Harbor" ride...but after getting back we had 77 miles and Linda pointed out we did 77 miles on 7/7/07...so this is now the Lucky 7 ride..wish I bought a lottery ticket

We drove up Fri afternoon...the marine layer was already over Oxnard...nice and cool...so we figured we were in for great riding weather...
Sat we met with mkadam68 at 7:30....
We took off towards Ventura..saw a few SFVBC'ers... Bruce, Larry and a bunch of others...
We figured we would see more heading back on Harbor, but afterwards we realized they changed the route from last year to go back on Victoria instead of Harbor....
We rode on the Ventura Bike path....then at Main we turned onto the Cool Breeze route...Emma Woods, then onto the coast road and 101....up 192...was cloudy and cool...incredible riding weather....it was really pretty up on 192...so much different than the desert riding we are used to...
dropped down into Carpenteria....then thru Summerland, up Ortega Hill and onto Santa Barbara
We stopped at East Beach Grill for breakfast, the sun was coming out , but it was very pleasant..not too warm.
We had 41 miles at that point so I realized this was going to be a bit more than the metric we planned...but we all felt good so no problems there...
Headed back....we decided to take the shortcut around Ortega Hill, and I see a BF jersey coming towards up...I dont know who it was..sorry...- we high fived as we passed, then I saw Christy ( aquaterror)....as we headed out of Summerland I saw Asia and her hubby go by...
We realized at this point they really changed the route...I am curious as to exactly what the route was...so if some could post I would appreciate it!
We headed down Padaro, then thru Carpenteria, and back onto 101 then back to Oxnard...
77 miles 15.1 avg...
So this was a PB on distance and speed for Linda and a pb on speed at that distance for me.
mkadam68 helped push the pace, which was good...he is really strong, and great to draft...but he, Markaj and I all traded pulls...then someone would drop back to make sure Linda was able to draft so we could keep her up with us...she did great...all in all a super riding day in a great area...we are going to try to do more rides up there..
I will post a link to the pix we took as soon as I get them!

Hi Herb - Glad I saw you out there! The BF jersey was Tony, Karen's husband. It was a beautiful day and we got through Cassitas Pass before it got too hot. On the last ~15 miles I was dropped by Dave, and Zo & Tony had already ridden farther ahead. I was done & couldn't hang on any longer. Asia, her husband, and Lara weren't far behind & I was able to latch onto them. They delivered me to Tony, Zo & Dave who were waiting for me after the bike path ended. Asia & Lara, thank you SO MUCH for letting me jump in. You saved me!! My my ride time was 6 hours, 23 minutes, avg. speed 16 mph. Not a bad time for me.

Huh? Oh, wait, you did the 1/2 metric, right? Sorry...duh. Well, she'll get there and if need be, we'll tag team her.
