Motobecane Super Sprint bike...advice needed

Hi guys, I bought this bike second hand at a garage sale and was wondering whether the frame (or anything else on it) was worth salvaging. It's a Motobecane Super Sprint, but I'm not sure how old it is:

Any advice much appreciated

It's totally worth salvaging.

If I was you, I would restore it to it's former glory! But if you feel you haven't the time or cash to do so, I'm sure someone would pay (or trade) for certain parts you've stripped off it on EBay.

....like those rims, for instance.

lol, I may have a go at restoring it then! But as you can see, it's rusty in parts, would I need to strip all the paint off, de-rust the frame and start from there?

The bulk of the rust on the frame seems to me to be surface. If you really want to do a bang up job, then go for stripping the paint. It doesn't seem entirely necessary, though, as you can use a light de-ruster on a rag and it'll scrub off with a little work.

As for the components, the brakes need new cables (and probably casings as well), the chain needs oiling, and really - that seems about it to make it ridable.

Check the spokes on the rim to see if they're loose and adjust where necessary. You'll be good in no time

Hmm..I wonder how much I'd get for it, if I decided to sell it...
