I'm interested in this frame on our national ebay look a like.

It's a Guerciotti frame. No info at all...
It's my size (1,5cm to small but i can live with that) and i like it
"must-buy-frame-can't-resist" (you know that feeling)

Pics (clickable)

Both the decals and the lugs differs from others I have seen (clover vs star). Perhaps an Alan bike?

Some links:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guerciotti
https://valla.uchicago.edu/cgi-bin/fg...t222=fix+me+up (fixed gears)

Question: Is this frame any special?

Bikes: Crap. The box is not big enough...

Alans were glued aluminum, with extra thick aluminum lugs. This isn't one of those, but a nice steel frame...I'd guess later-70's from the frame detailing - the Guerciotti brothers started building frames in 1965, but I have no pictures of the early ones, and the ones that I do have have Guerciotti "G" on the fork crown, a star in the bottom bracket cutout, and simple dovetails in the lugs. The snazzy ones were supposed to have a separate plate brazed onto the bottom bracket with the Guerciotti signature engraved. I have no information concerning the lug logo in the picture...are those Campy dropouts (that's always a welcome sign).

I predict it goes for 232.62 Euros.

Unless it has no fork.......................then 184.55 Euros.

I predict it's a Dutch auction and unlike your sniperstyle-skyhigh-prize-frenzy-ebay on the other side of the atlantic ocean, nobody will going nuts over this frame. The only frames I have seen going high are Gios'.

edit: more strange... the €50 bidder dropped his bid and a new bidder put €25,=
Don't you love the dutch

The markings on the downtube are like the ones I have on an SL frame from circa 1983. The seattube markings look as if a white panel was painted and the wording place on it. The top and bottom WC bands appear on the same frame I mentioned, but the star faces forward. My frame has Guerciotti on the seat caps. Can't really see in the pics provided. I see no evidence of a chrome stay, but again the pics. What I can see of the brake bridge looks like what I have. Is the BB Cinelli? It's a nice looking frame. Snag it.

Bikes: 1 trek, serotta, rih, de Reus, Pogliaghi and finally a Zieleman! and got a DeRosa

Erzulis,

Although ebay owns the dutch auction site, its a totally different beast.
You put in a bid, if the seller likes it the item is yours. I was looking at a
70's Rih, someone had bid 50Euro when I found it, I offered 100Euro but the
seller declined since he had already accepted the 50 Euro bid.
that's how I got my de Reus for 50Euro (well that and it's butt ugly).

leunkstar cool catch! welcome to the "catch of the Day" thread coz that
surely qualifies.
uw guerciotti is baie lekker, u heb a echt leifhebber

Marty (sorry for the bad dutch!)

baie is more south africa language than dutch

(also i'm not so proud 'apartheid' is a original dutch word )

anyways.. the frame! Tommorrow or the day after tommorrow he is gonna send it to me.

I want to rebuild it with campagnolo. One problem: That is completely conflicting with my "near starving to death because i'm a poor student"-status...

I have:
Frame: Guerciotti
headset: campaganolo
wheels: campagnolo super records with high flangs
stem: NOS cinelli 1E
dropbar: cinelli

thats about it... long way to go..
I need a fork in the first place! A chrome one i guess..
For the rest i prefer italian stuff. All my other bikes are shimano equipped but this one definitely needs italian stuff. I think it's gonna be a multiple year work in progress.

Nah, don't worry bout it. The Previous Apartheid Regime is long since
gone. I don't think that anyone associates the Boers with modern day
Dutch.
Yah, I know that Baie is more afrikaans but hey, its all I know (for now).

I predict that your multiyear project will be done in about 2 months!

Marty

yeah the guy would have send it today but in Holland packages till certain sizes go for just around $5 trough the whole country (whole as in holland.. as in 400km's max ). But it's larger than the max size allowed and now it becomes a pretty more expensive story.. I'm not in the hurry but I promise you guys will get all the pictures you want. So much I'm gonna get pm's of people asking me to stop spamming the forums or Lotek moderating all my posts

Ok.. i got mail. More expensive it is! OMG!
Instead of 5,50 euro it has become 7,50 euro
So I'm not gonna buy it for 26 euro and 7,50 porto cost..
Of course I am buying it!

So far I have
- Campagnolo Victory FD
- Campagnolo headset (incomplete)
- Campagnolo Record front hub
- Campagnolo Victory rear hub (with Mavic rim)
- Cinelli 1-E stem
- Guerciotti Frame

far from complete but I'm looking at the auction every day!
I hope to get the frame this week or next week.

one week later.. update

the horror..the horror..

i'm not gonna be the owner of this bike

The guy packed it and it was ready for sending to me. We both agreed on the price. Only thing left was me paying. That was a weekend ago. But i was in bad luck. If i want to pay with my online internet bank i need my cellphone. It goes like this: I make a transaction ready. My cellphone gets a one use Code (TAN code) which i need to insert and there you go. That weekend i managed to enter 3 times the wrong pincode (something with beer, don't ask). So i couldnt use my cellphone, let alone the online paying method any longer.. I mailed the guy I was sorry but that he needed to be patient for a couple a days so my bank could send me a code to unlock things. Than he mailed me: I'm sorry, this takes too long, i'm gonna sell it to another person. I send him a long mail back but than he replied he by now had sold it..

what a rude person... So long Guerciotti
Now i'm stuck with some Campagnolo parts and need a new frame
