Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My New Sugoi Team Radius Jacket!

As most or you may of may not know, I was looking for a jacket to replace my old Banff Goretex cycling jacket.

In my other thread Here: What Type of Cycling Jacket Do You Wear? I found a lot of good information and suggestions and was really torn between what my heart wanted and what my brain was telling me. I wanted to buy a jacket that served the purpose I was looking for, practical utility. Something that was functional for my commute, was cycling stylish, yet street-able off the bike.

After a visit to all the LBS in town, I settled on a Pearl Izumi Vagabond. The deciding factor on that was if I could only have one jacket, it would be that one. It is wind & water resistant, while being packable, and looser fitting. While I was at it, I tried on a very racy looking Sugoi Team Radius that is made of Basebloc. It was a tighter fitting jacket that is more suited for Hi-performance riding. I loved it but it was not to be my first Jacket, if I was to only have one.

So, my Lovely wife today asks me how my club ride was and so on... Next thing you know she springs this Sugoi on me and said she thought I looked so good in it when I tried it on, and thought it matched my Litespeed Tuscany very well from what she could tell in the store. GOSH I LOVE HER!

She said she could tell I really wanted this jacket, but knew that I had to get the Pearl Izumi first and foremost in my mind.

So I would have to say it's been a great day!

Pictures? But Of Course!

Matches the Titanium Bike very well, I think, as did Christine

I think black cycling jerseys and jackets are suicidal.

I think they're wicked

We all have our comfort zone.. Some people think riding a bicycle is dangerous and don't do it

Thanks though

Nice! Looks sharp - I love Sugoi. Everything I've had from them has been top notch.

There is something to be said for blending in with the color of the pavement, but sorry, I can only take "HI-Vis Yellow" for so long.

Thanks Ravenmore! I feel the same... I have enough Hi-Vis stuff, and like to have something to mix it up with.

Besides our Bikes have enough Bling by themselves

I agree, I have a few older pairs of Sugoi shorts and gloves, they have served me well.

Very nice indeed. Sounds like your wife subscribes to the pay it forward philosophy and she should be rewarded in kind. I've had a few Sugoi pieces and they are really high quality. You'll have the jacket for a long time. Enjoy!

Thanks, I'm lucky to have her for sure, and that's not the Jacket speaking She rides with me on MTB's however I wish I could get her into Road Biking as well.

She is taking an interest in commuting with me seeing as we both work downtown now.

Thanks Flywolf! It does match well doesn't it? The Yellows are not a perfect match, but close enough

Thanks Blandin! Christine has always been like that. She buy s a lot of quality tools for me. I think she gets that from her Father who probably owns every available type of tool on the planet.

When I bought my Trek in 1989, Christine bought me my Cinelli Tecnos 1 repair stand. That was so cool. The bike dealer told me afterward, how lucky I was too
