CRASHED again
ok, i crashed agian, this timeeith a helmet. I was riding down a long hill at about 40mph with a female friend of mine. I didnt really know where i was at and my turn came up faster than i thought. I slowed as ast as i could and went wide to hit the apex of the turn, but halfway into the turn i realized "oh ****, im not gonna make it" so i stood the bike up and got on the binders. So hard the rear was bouncing off the ground and skidding. I got down to about 10 MP and hit a curb and went over the bars, kinda saw it coming and bounced the rear of the ground to minimize damage to the fork. I landed right on my head in the grass and rolled over. Nothing but a lil scrape on my knee...glad i bought a helmet.

Yeah, that helmet gives you the confidence to ride without paying attention to what you are doing, that's the ticket.

First you taco a wheel hoppin' over a hole.
Then you exclaim you excellent cornering skills on fast downhills in this thread.
Me thinks your user handle is prophetic.
You know ...you're supposed to replace that brand new helmet because you took a lid skid on it.

From your earlier post/diff thread..
Got to re-think those lines Dead Roman, on downhills and thru corners.

I wonder what you are like in a car. From my experience, riding a bike isnt that much different from driving a car. If you know you missed a turn the smart thing would be continue down the hill, slow down enough then turn around.

Dead (can I call you dead?),
I taught motorcycle safety for about a decade, and I think you need some work on your cornering technique. The biggest things you can do to make it through a turn well are:
1) Do any speed adjustment early
2) Pick a good line (ie wide at the start, don't turn in until you need to)
3) Turn your head and look through the turn, where you want to go.
#3 is the easiest one to work on.

skipping off the ground cause of the amount of front brake i was using.
aight, imma quit postin here unless its to get information. I seriously doubt any of you guys have ever overestimated your skill and crashed for it. Youg guys jus look for a reason to flame people trying to learn how to ride better? I have never seen so many people make such a big deal out of taking a spill on a bicycle. Do you people live under some kind of blanket of safety? I was wearing the proper gear and had a good scenario to push the envelope a bit. I didnt even pay for it hardly. i hope none of the negative posters in this thread ride mountainbikes or race bmx.
What maes it oh k to state something that isnt true just to make your statement sound more quick witted? I said i could pick lines better, which is true since i have on track training and understand the dynamics of momentum/cornerspeed. I never said i had excellent corner skill nor did i even insinuate that my cornering skills were better than anyone on this boards.

Yeah, save the bike! Road-rash will always heal but bikes cost money!
Oh, I usually prefer to ride behind the chics...

Don't wory about it. most of us road riders have come off at one time or another whether we admit it or not. Naturally i'm perfect, have never missed a corner or mis-judged the conditions. I have the scars to prove it. Oops, rumbled! Don't stress too much. I'm glad you're ok.

I think if I get paranoid enough, and a job soon, I might just get a new fork.
