Well that truly sucks.
Here I was, basking in another Yankee post-season meltdown, and now I'm bummed.

Why do shytty things happen to the good guys?

Best wishes, Sheldon. I've learned so much from your site. So much. And I've barely scratched the surface. I figure when I can't ride a bike anymore, I'll ride a trike.

Is this a bad time to recommend electric bikes, or electric trikes?

Sending positive energies towards Mr. Brown right now.

I can relate to Sheldon's leg problems as we share similar concerns.
Both concerns take function from our legs and , pretty much, end
our BIcycling days. All that is left for us is TRIcycles which is OK
in my case.

I can also tell you that there is a level of personal sorrow in loosing the
full use of one's legs (or any other body part for that matter). One learns
quickly to adpt and move one. Like Sheldon I too have to use a Rollator
when I walk alot in place of my ever present cane. But that's Ok 'cause
I can still get around and have not been forced into a wheelchair......yet.

The important thing for folk's like Sheldon and me (along with many others)
IS TO NEVER GIVE UP THE FIGHT TO KEEP ON CYCLING.

All I really want out of life is to be like Sheldon when I'm older, and I'm certain I'm not alone in this sentiment. Our best wishes are with you, Capt. Bike.

Thanks Sheldon for the help and advice you've given here, and a few times by direct emails. If there's anything your admiring public can do beyond prayers and thoughts, let us know.

So sad to hear about such serious health problems. A great thank you from Norway for the wonderful work you have done ( and still does), for all of us cycling nuts. God bless.

Sooner or latter all biking days come to an end, although thankfully he seems to be fine on a recumbent. It might be worth noting that Lyme disease prevention should be taken seriously.

"He says people with NPH can't raise their toes as I can, thinks it could still be MS or Lyme Disease or maybe some other infection in the spinal column."

I would like to thank Sheldon Brown for sharing this.

Mr. Brown, your writing a journal about your illness shows your strength. May your doctors perform their work with skill and may you persevere in the recovery.

Best Wishes,
Tony

Well Hell! The man ain't dead yet... I hope Mrs. Brown's idiot son, Sheldon, has MANY years of cycling left. Being not too many years in Sheldon's slipstream, myself, I realize that I may be in Sheldon's shoes (figuratively speaking) sooner than I think. The difference between me and the OCP crowd is that, like Sheldon, I realize I'm not immortal; the youngsters have yet to learn that. I hope that I can take my eventual limitations with as much grace and style as Sheldon. I'll also keep the boy in my prayers. It can't hurt...

Best thoughts going out to Sheldon. I read the news a few days ago myself. I'm currently watching both of my parents go through hip replacement surgery so I know first hand how the loss of the ability of walking can effect someone. Sheldon, if you read this, keep your head up and those wheels rolling any way you can. You've helped so many here, and hope that our encouragement can help you just a little in return.

Best wishes from here also.

If not for Sheldon's website, my Dad's 1979 Raleigh probably wouldn't be back on the road. It meant alot to restore something that belonged to him and be able to show it off.

Thanks.
