Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Wheelie appreciation thread.

Okay, first off no b*tching. This is straight up. You know when you were a kid you loved it. Now that youre older, don't you like poppin a wheelie or two? I do say, my steamroller will go like no other. (although im not as refined as i used to be)

Bikes: a bunch.

Yes, I do.
Though, at 75 gear inches on a touring frame, I can only really get it up on speed tables.

So, how do you do that? Do you need a short track wheelbase and low gearing?

Juvi-kyle has a 'fixie beard' too. That helps him balance better.

not really, i do it on my bike alot like in juvi's pictures but im clipped in. I get into a trackstand, roll the wheels back a bit, lean my body back and push/pull the cranks to lift it up. when i land, the front tire skips forward since its turned sideways. i've been riding wheelies more now since i got risers, it makes it much easier to control, IMO.
