Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

A steady diet of Philly cheesesteak will do strange things to a mind.

I loved those HPV bikes from the late 1980's. Hutch made one, so did Haro. I remember a friend of mine entering a local crit on a dare, he rode a Haro Dart;

So he got dropped .02s into the race. That must've been worth it.

Its now back to a somewhat-regular-bmx-state. Well, not really. Now its got centre pull brakes from a 70's department store bike, ugly mountain levers, an old 105 crank (w/ biopace rings) with the little ring still bolted to the outside because I never bothered to get single stack chainrings. The seatpost is also jammed in as far as it will go and I strapped a STEEL saddle to it. Literally, the saddle is made of steel. Its back to SS as well. Its still super ********. I'm thinking of buying a cheap BMX and just swapping the parts over, because that frame is in great condition and somewhat collectible

I should remind everyone again how ******** bikes like these actually are. Think riding a fixed gear sloping funnybike on the street, but make it not fit in any way, and be the most squirelly top-heavy bike ever. They look fun, just like shampoo smells good.

Riding as fast as possible while teetering on the edge of total knee failure. It also helps if you make a "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSHHHH" sound while doing all of this.
