My dumb ride videos

I did a few solo laps around the Rose Bowl late this afternoon. This was my first time back riding here since last fall. No change, and lots of familiar faces and a couple BF members, including bigdraft......we spoke briefly during his warmup.
I just puttzed around and whipped out my P&S camera for a little video action...turn sound down, they're really crappy.....

Those aren't crappy! I think they're cool. I felt like I was out riding today by watching them!!! Thanks for sharing, George.

Great vids. Great weather I missed. Hopefully I can get out tomorrow and enjoy.

vid1: that roller coast action made me dizzy!
vid2: was nice of you to let the pack pass you, after you lapped them

Well, if we're sharing. Here's a time lapse of a ride to and through Griffith Park I did a few months back. Strapped a camera to my handlebars.

Cool vids! Is Rose Bowl an oval track? I only see cars going the other way.

Joel...those time lapse shots are interesting. I've got to try it one day. Does your camera have auto time lapse or did you have to manually hit the shutter every few seconds?

Auto time lapse function - I can vary the duration. Had to try it a few times until I got the right timing. My first couple tries were so fast you couldn't tell what was going on. Guess it would be great if you were shooting a flower in bloom or something.

damn. i didn't know the TDF peloton rode around the rose bowl.

looks safe to be barreling around the bowl with 300 people "not racing".

great videos, george.

great videos, george.
that's actually a small group as it's just the start of the season as the ride starts up as soon as daylight savings time starts. the montrose ride george and a few of other others do on saturday mornings has 150 to 250 riders sometimes.

george get out there and get in the pack! don't make me bring the tandem, i've got a space for you on the back

Yep, that's him..... I'm trying to break him from his routine Tue/Thur Rose Bowl, Sat Montrose, Sunday LaTuna rides, and get him to join some of our BF rides locally....

John...I was there from 5 to 7, and had to drive to Hollywood to help close shop.
I just used my point n shoot camera to shoot the video clips.
A digital video camera, otoh, will have time lapse capability.

My wife was there last night doing a couple laps on her new bike and was looking for her in your video, but didn't see her.

The peloton freaked her out a bit, she wasn't expecting a 100 riders to pass her at once!

Actually, that was a relatively small pack last night.........on typical Tues/Thurs summer nights you'll see 100 yard long double pacelines....

Hi George, these were so neat-- I've never been to the Rose Bowl to ride or for any reason so now I know what it looks like. Very cool. I had no idea so many people ride there! That was a nice sized group that went past.
