1/8 chain on 3/32 cog?

i've searched on this, and haven't really come up with any real results. i'm sure this has been asked to death, but i assure you i at least tried to find something on it.

i know i can't run a 3/32" chain on 1/8" chainrings/cogs, but would there be any significant problems caused by running a 1/8" chain on a 3/32" chainring/cog?

i'd imagine there'd be room for it to bounce around and get stretched out of shape much more easily, any advice is greatly appreciated, and if someone asked this last week--sorry, i missed the boat.

Why do people say you can't use a 1/8" chain on a 3/32" chainring/cog? It will fit.
