Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

ggg300's turn to shill for BD: Bottecchia

Hate me now...

Ok….I have ordered two bikes from BD (one for my father in law and a fixed for me) and have had a good experience. I will be getting a new bike soon and was looking at pulling the trigger but pm-d Mike at BD and asked when his new bikes were coming out and he replied:

"Senior Member

Hi

threads about us are always good

new CF Immortal at $1200, $1500, AND $1900 ALL ON THE WAY IN JUNE/JULY
CF triple crank Century models due in Sept

then Campy Record equipped Immortal due in the fall

Plus a Full Ultegra CF Immortalin September

so we will have about 10 assorted Motobecane CF models by fall - all price ranges and specs.

mike"

So I have been lurking the BD bike “companies” and holy crap… https://www.bottecchia.com.au/

It looks like he ditched the corny web pages and the bikes look well:

nice

I think Mike stated that these or bikes like em were coming our way...https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...=278553&page=2

I wounder why these bikes are not on BD and ebay or are they?

From the website:

Since 1926 Bottecchia has been at the forefront of cycling technology. We continue to strive to manufacture class leading bicycles in the Racing and Transport sphere!

Bottecchia is now represented all over Europe with 300 dealers in Italy as well as dealers in Germany, Belgium, France, Austria, Denmark, Britain and Slovenia. In 2006 Bottecchia appointed Cycling Extremo Internazionale as exclusive distributors for Australia & New Zealand.

Notice that they don't mention the US.

Yup, Bottechia USA is another BD (more or less) brand. I wouldn't compare their bikes to anything overseas.

Bikes: Affirmative

IIRC, bd is going to be selling bikes with those same exact frames (minus decals) starting sometime next month.

Bikes: Yeah, I got a few.

Kinda like how the company MBK is the awkward child of the original French Motobecane because they don't own their own branding anymore.

We can and Bottecchia surely wants us too
and we are the only authorized vendor of Bottecchias in the USA

Please check this out:

https://www.metaquotes.net/forex/eurusd/

As you can see, it will take some adsjustment before we can afford to bring Bottecchias from Italy or even Campy stuff.

We operate in a global market place, as you know.

How is it that BD bikes get more mention here than all other makes combined?

Yet I have never seen a BD bicycle in real life.

Probably because shipping, duties, and taxes to the UK would negate any cost savings. They only ship free to the lower 48 states.

I've seen a few. One of them is ridden by a 5X NYS masters TT champion.

Even when I'm in the States...

(as I understand it, they can't actually sell some of their products outside the US)

I never saw those builds on the Bikes Direct pages, either. Still lots of FSA cranks and Cane Creek brake calipers diluting the current offerings.
