Terry Liberator
I bought a Terry Liberator Mens Leather saddle last night but it sits on my bike at a slight upward angle. Even at its most level it is still at a slight upward angle. Is this how the Liberator is intended to be ridden?

Hi
Not sure about the men's but I've got the woman's version and I can point the nose down if I want to.
It sounds more like a seat post issue...
Loosen it up and give it a nice downward thwack on the nose...

Put a board or hard bound book on top of it. Put a bubble level on that, then adjust the seat post angle mechanism as needed. I've never bothered to do that, but eyeballing it, my Liberator is level and works fine for me.

What is the seat post angle mechanism? Not sure my bike came with that... By the way, I ride a Jamis Aurora with stock seat post.

Your seat post attaches to your frame with a bolt that either has a quick release or loosens with an allen wrench. You can make the seat higher or lower. That is NOT the adjustment we're looking for here, but rather at the top of the seatpost where your saddle is attached by it's rails. Normally it also loosens with an allen wrench and allows you to move the saddle foreward/backward or up and down on it's rails...

Oh, the only adjustment I could make was to move the seat forward and backward after loosening the clamp. I don't think tilting the seat is an option with my seatpost. Currently the seat is as far back as possible in order to get it as flat as possible.

hmmmm...are you sure about that?? That would be a new one on me. Even my older/cheap bikes will move. Does it have bolts on the sides or something?
Like I said before, give it a good thwack...

There MUST be a way to adjust your saddle tilt...we just don't know what it is yet...
Have you loosened it ALL the way?
Proper saddle tilt is so important to overall fit and comfort that I can't imagine any seatpost designed without a fine tuning mechanism to achieve that.

I made some pretty pictures. Hopefully these help you out:

Shemp, I believe my seatpost is most like the first picture in your post. I looked at the Ritchey website and I think this is it (probably a year older model but I doubt there's any difference)...
https://ritcheylogic.com/web/Ritchey~...7390&live=true
I think both of you are probably right in that it can be tilted forward or backward while the bolt is loose. I will try it tonight and update asap.
Thanks!

Here's another thread from today about adjusting seatposts that you might want to read, also.

You're welcome...
You were just feeling a little shy about whacking your nice new Liberator...
Hey let us know how you like the saddle. Mine was great right out of the box...

Well I took it for a spin last night and I have to say it's hard as hell. I was using the stock gel saddle on my Jamis Aurora. I was a little shocked in the difference. Should it break in a little?

I think your butt may need the breaking in (no offense). My Liberator is far from hard. I've been using firmer seats on my road bike and when I come back to my touring bike, the Liberator actually feels too soft.
