Grand Tour LITE Sunday Sept 23rd
Anyone doing this ride this year??
https://www.lawheelmen.org/gtlite2007.htm
I want to do the Highland Century (Double Metric)
It is the same route as the Grand Tour back in June.
Hope to do better this time then I did in June!
I was hoping to get a group together.

This is the same route as we did in June. It is one of my favorite routes, outside of the winds on the coastal plain. I glad they finally posted it, I have been looking forward to it. I will ride with you.

For me, less chance of getting post-ride food in GT lite (DM is the longest route option; 68/100/125) than regular GT (DM is the shortest route; 125/200/300/400).

Don't you worry, Dave. I'll be no faster and if they run out of food at the end, we'll go get pancakes at IHOP.

GT Lite was a wonderfully supported ride last year. markw and I arrived a bit late and were bringing up the rear for most of the Highland Century last year. Their roaming SAG kept checking on us, and even though we were near the back, the SAG stops were well stocked with lots of goodies. It's one of the rides I was really lookin forward to this year. And it's relatively cheap. There was a group discount last year that we got as a BikeForums group (I even got a $5 refund retroactively), so maybe we can do the same again this year. That put the cost last year at $20. Pretty reasonable in my opinion.
Hopefully we'll have some nice pacelines going on the way to the coast. Fighting headwinds alone was no fun, and as I neared the coast, my flat ground speed into the wind had dropped to about 12 MPH. On the other hand, flying down the coast to the finish in a small paceline was great. I took my pull at 28 MPH (tailwind assisted, of course) on flat ground and felt great and was hammering up the rollers near the end at speeds around 20 MPH. I have never finished a big ride feeling better than I did that day.

I think you can also register as a group on Active.com, we would just have to e-mail them the names of the 5 riders.
